Nothing’s stopping Warhammer Underworlds: Online from hitting Early Access this year.
Warhammer has been recently announced and after a few minutes following its reveal, Warhammer Underworlds: Online was also revealed.
The reveal came along with a teaser. The teaser clearly showed the latter’s attempt to remove the gap between the tabletop and the spin-off.
And just like the tabletop version, Warhammer Underworlds: Online is bringing players stranded players warbands. These warbands can be controlled and can determine the other player’s fate.
The warband holder can simply roll the dice or pick a card while flinging them at the opponent’s warbands. The game is set in Shadespire, an eerie city where all the action happens.
The game is turn-based, however, players can expect it to run quicker than other games like Age of Sigmar. In the latter, players will be commanding a whole army.
Steel Sky Productions, the developer behind Warhammer Underworlds, said that the game focuses on deckbuilding. Aside from deckbuilding, the game will also show a lot of high-level strategizing and brisk matches.
Before players can start the game, they need to tweak their deck. Aside from that, they also need to plan contingencies and figure ways to support their own squads.
They can check their power decks since they can use this to cast spells. Aside from casting spells, the power decks can also enable players to do special actions. This is on top of availing of upgrades, and accessing the deck carrying 12 objective cards.
These special cards can help players determine their specific mission goals. It can also give them different options for winning and killing everyone.
And just like other cards, players can use these cards to choose the objectives players to want to play on. Once chosen, players should put these cards back in the deck. After which, they’ll draw these cards in the match.
Those who love card-based games are guaranteed to never get tired of the cavalcade that is Warhammer. Though to some the teaser isn’t as appealing as the concept of the game, they still think it’s promising. Critics even said that the game is premised on solid foundations of its tabletop reference.
Warhammer Underworlds: Online will be coming to Steam Early Access soon. To be more specific, it’ll be available early this year.
This game is surely one of those that gamers should really watch out for. The wait will be a bit longer, but considering the feedback, it’ll be totally worth it.
