Marvel lovers, this one’s the searing casting news for the reboot of Fantastic Four, and Vanessa Kirby has been officially and cleanly placed in the role of Sue Storm/Invisible Woman. A tweet caused utter torment and so to say-many have thoughts.

Still terribly far away, because the date for the premiere of The Fantastic Four: First Steps has been set for July 25, yet the hype train had already begun to leave the platform. Kirby seems like a very apt choice, but, as usual, the Internet has its set of jokes. Some fans went big on it and some just stopped to reminisce about the good times of 2005 realizations.

One user @Gold1980Si61678 went ahead and said “Amazing casting. Now if we would have gotten a different Mr. Fantastic 😕”, meaning ouch. Being criticized a lot for portraying Reed Richards also is Pascal, with @LesterViva80483 complaining, “To bad pascal wont STFU .he is ruining for all 4.” Pretty harsh, isn’t it? Perhaps, it is just fandom for you.

The rest of the drummiesaures are less than threatening: @kdotdante said, “Yeah, 10/10 cast,” while another used the handle @SWEmpireLore declared Kirby: “Best sue storm like wow.” So it’s not all bad.

Next are the comparisons to previous versions, with @elijahkyo stating something to the effect of, “doesnt even compare to 2005,” while @BENJAMHOUSE1 more than happily defended Kirby alongside memories of the old cartoon and the C64 game (shouts to the real OGs).

From there, because it’s the Internet and no one really cares about normalcy, @IambadguyPro asks, “are u baiting gooners to watch the film?” with @joeajoeh keeping the streak awkward by dropping, “The lip action would go stupid.” Yeah. Moving on.

One thing that we can be sure of from Marvel is: they sure know how to get people talking. Whether you’re ecstatic or skeptical, The Fantastic Four: First Steps is set to become easily one of the most talked about superhero movies in 2025. And it’s after Vanessa Kirby fronting the show that we can guarantee some serious acting talent.

If only everyone could find themselves in agreement for this one. Wouldn’t that have been amazing? But hey, ain’t comics supposed to spark controversy?
