Today, two skins were added in Fortnite: Soirée and Party Starter, and well… um, the people out there don’t say they’re having a party about it! These skins hit the Item Shop at 1,500 V-Bucks, and let’s just say the playerbase isn’t too pleased.
The first thing about these skins: What are they? Soirée is a neon-pink-and-black sleek bodysuit with a sprinkle of futurism, while Party Starter comes with neon colors and basically, the stereotypical aura of “dance-floor energy.” On paper, this sounds awesome. The fans, though? They call it lazy, overpriced, and simply a reskin of an older one.
@jefinuwu seemed to have no qualms being outspoken about it. “Love how these are just reused models with new colors and they wanna charge 1500??” Ouch. While @aryan15309 was very simple and to the point, stating, “Not worth 1500 V-Bucks.” “At 800 each, maybe. Not at 1500,” was the response given by one other, @MaidenViking_.
But now, here is the hilarious part: Despite the long negative press, @physicsswitch has pointed out that they are already topping the bestseller list. So yeah, people are complaining, but they’re buying, too. That’s classic Fortnite economics at work.
Some fans, it seems, are just perplexed at the design decisions themselves. @Nessa_PS_ asked, “Whyyyy the black socks on the Party Starter when you put shoes???” In contrast, @DaisyTheHuman expressed mixed feelings: “Soirée is so pretty 🥰 but that bodysuit 😵💫.”
And then comes that nostalgia factor kicking in. @BiSHAMON_18 commented that the originals—the Party skins four years ago—were priced the same way-back bling or not-and Epic still hasn’t learned a damn thing.
Of course, some were not infuriated. @Romaisa126 said: “Fresh skins dropping hype’s real.” Even though the price is high, @HappyVideogamer admitted liking the colors.
But the fuss did cause some arguing about overpriced cosmetics. @Thomson_ma94964 said he was “done with overpriced cosmetics,” to which @NyahPheonix responded, “You weren’t done with it before now?” Meanwhile, @ThicBeats8 offered his opinion that the skins were “chicks in fugly animated onesies.”
Oh, and don’t forget those pesky one-off requests that popped up amidst all this. @MovieDromer managed to ask, “When is C-3PO getting added?” while @KenyaGallo10169 inquired, “Will Padme from Star Wars return?” Really, why not?
At the end of the day, these new Fortnite skins are here and they are expensive, and the community is split. Some adore them, some despise them, some are holding out for Sarah Connor (@_Morax__). Will you be paying for these, or are you saving your V-Bucks for something better? Either way, that alone is enough to cause drama around the Item Shop.
So yeah, just another day in Fortnite, where skins are flashy, prices are crazy, and Twitter replies are chaotic! Another Tuesday.
