A little background on this one, it means “where discipline and precision meet,” according to the devs. The community response? Not a thunderous applause, with some being hyped, some roasting the price tag, and others still confused about what happened to the Bucky skins.
Let’s get down to the bundle. Phaseguard is the next-gen Ultra-tier skin line consisting of some slick and super futuristic designs with mechanical sound effects on aim—something that flew straight to the spotlight from the world’s very own nitro_gt, who called it “crazy.” The catch? Well, the pricing ought to follow suit: 9,900 VP, roughly $100, depending on which part of the world you live in. That’s where all the drama starts.
Peekalit expressed his full opinion: “Elder Flame was worth the money. Not this. Not at 9900 VP. It’s insane.” Whereas other folks, such as salveregalo, kept it simple with, “I speak for EVERYONE when I say this bundle should NOT be $100.” On the other hand, Nicolas 🇩🇪 tried to mediate and said that a reasonable price would have been 7,100 VP. But what is Riot doing? They are going for Ultra-tier prices which, to date, players are still not buying as being Ultra-tier-worthy.
Now, here’s where the hilarious comments come in. ShiroYurei said, “Where discipline and bankruptcy meet,” while Soulbound TV said it sounds “like a toothpaste brand but with deadly aim.” The car did not escape ridicule either: esquimofnbr called it “Call of Duty x VALORANT,” which pretty much fits perfectly.
So not everyone is giving heat. SiegeOC and KtKt12321_tako and many more are already ready to swipe that credit card. “It must be MINE,” said SiegeOC, followed up by “Take my money💸” from KtKt12321_tako. So indeed, the hype exists… just not from everyone.
Now a dive for Bucky. vburakkeles: “There’s only one Bucky skin at the Ultra and Exclusive levels,” and shinwillwin: “Whatever the fk happened to Bucky or Judge skins?” Riot remains silent, but the players are certainly waiting for shotgun variety.
Then Elderflame dagger drama cannot be missed. Chamber Zaddy jumped in with “There is no excuse for Elderflame dagger to have no variants 😡.” So yeah, even the older skins get some hits in this debate.
At the end of the day, Phaseguard enters the market with a polarizing dilemma. Some regard the design, others deem it overpriced, and a few are in for the meme ride. Will it sell? Most definitely. Will the complaints change anything? Probably not. The one thing for sure is the VALORANT community definitely speaks up.
