Riot Games has unleashed a huge patch on VALORANT, and Tejo mains are raging. The patch went live today, with heavy nerfs to the agent, from changing his rockets and drone to ultimate cost adjustments. And oh boy, is the community ever upset.
The Guided Salvo rockets got hit hard by the changes. Rechargeable rockets? No more. A free charge is granted at the start of every round. Any additional rocket shot will cost you 150 credits though. Maximum range, which is now 45 meters, down from 55. And there is no cooldown anymore.
But wait. The drone got costlier by 100 credits, from 300 to 400. As compensation, the stun is down to 200 from 300. And then just to stir the pot, the ultimate now needs 9 points instead of 8.
Like I said, a mixture of reactions. Some consider this the final blow to Tejo. One user, @DarkTassili, jokingly said, “Rip Tejo for the next 12 months until they buff him again because they realize this was too much.” Others, such as @Konax0, say he is still good; “Tejo has an additional stun. You trippin if you think he is weak now.”
Sova players are celebrating. With rockets no longer recharging and an increased drone price, a vocal few think this is a comeback for the Sova meta. “@FleecsVL tweeted, “Welcome back to the Sova meta.”
Others are unconvinced. Some in the upper echelon, such as @FavinTwt87918, said Tejo was never really all that prominent in Immortal/Ascendant lobbies to begin with. “Everyone runs Breach and Sova,” they said.
The increase to the ultimate points is also up for debate. Some find it pointless; for example, @kamrannetic said, “Not like his ult was that useful when it comes to action.” Meanwhile, @Chapullioni said, “What stopped you at 9?”
Is Tejo dead? Way too early to say for sure. What we can say for sure is that Riot doesn’t shy away from throwing a wrench in the works. If these changes balance out the game or just send the poor Tejo into obscurity, we’ll be watching and waiting to see.
Until then, Tejo mains, try playing some Sova. Just saying.
