All kind of reactions have been witnessed again with fever pitch in the Valorant community: some euphoric, some in abject misery. And by all means: Abyss, the controversial map, which is once again going to hit competitive rotation in Season 25 Act 4, has elicited more than… mixed reactions.

First, in case you missed it, the announcement was dropped in a tweet courtesy of VALORANTLeaksEN, and let’s be honest-sharing a Valorant leak is almost like when something is said under divine inspiration. It is not explicitly mentioned which map is being removed to accommodate Abyss, but gamers are already knocking down their wish lists (or hate lists, depending on whom you ask).

As if it’s some form of weird or niche thing, the map has never been sporadically blessed as being, shall I say, a crowd favorite, except by those obnoxiously rare characters who love its sheer chaotic verticality. The map should at least have an idea of how much of a battlefield the Twitter responses became. While an excited DarkOg__ kept yelling, “LETS FUCKING GOOOO” into the void, others were barking insults like GGxdh3nry telling everybody they would rather keep playing on Breeze or Fracture (yeah, Fracture) than see Abyss again. Ouch.

And some uselessly confused ones; for example, njzzed responded in French, “wait comment ça act 4,” which in English is something like, “wait, what do you mean Act 4?”—some players were really not expecting another act before a possible hard reset. Try explaining the season structure of VALORANT to a new player, seriously.

But the real controversy is about the map everybody really wants to see disappear. Icebox and Haven are receiving the worst condemnation, with Dmanrocks begging Riot to rid them of one. Fl0pp3rREAL responded with, “get rid of Haven then we are talking,” and honestly? Mood. Breeze, meanwhile, is getting blasted from all directions with Stormz1337 declaring, “Fuck Breeze all my homies hate Breeze.” Harsh… but fair.

And then there’s that tragic turn, where players like NoorK81008998 are happy in tears because their favorite map is coming back RIGHT as they are getting grounded or lose access to the game. “BRO MY FAV MAP COMES BACK RIGHT AS I CANT PLAY!” Downpour of sobs. Pain. Absolute pain.

So, what’s the verdict? Abyss is back and the whole community stands divided in the middle about it. Some are celebrating, some are faced with tears, and others are just hoping Icebox is vaulted to the sun. Season 25 Act 4? Interesting would be such an understatement.

With leak-accuracy, Abyss should drop very soon. No official date yet but brace up, duelists. It’s going to get messy.
