Hold onto your seats, gamers, because Twitch is set to unleash something wild! Dragon Games is officially here. This is not your regular stream geared PvP gladiatorial affair where four players square off against a huge angry dragon AND a Dungeon Master. Yes, you heard that right.
All streams will start on Thursday, May 15, at 12 p.m. PDT on Twitch in observance of Global Accessibility Awareness Day. Oh, and those chat donations tilt the scales in favor of the players or toward the dragon. Absolute chaos.
What exactly is Dragon Games? A charity supporting the DOTS RPG Project, which makes tabletop gaming accessible. Ergo, viewers can donate to give the upper hand to one side or the other (players or dragon), turning the entire match upside down (or right-side up, depending on how cruel or generous chat is feeling) in one swift donation.
That, or there are just so many laughs joined by the sound of a dragon getting buffed mid-fight thanks any one of some troubled souls of the chat throwing down a cool $20!
Hype is real. From excitement to Twitch drama, the replies on the announcement tweet were sure to go everywhere. Of course, @GeneralAndrews already called this “so so so so good. @ashsaidhi just capitally screams: “I AM SO HYPED FOR THIS.” And even Steve Saylor, who is also one of the organizers, goes, “I guess I should start writing the adventure huh? lol AHHHHHHHHH!” Steve is that.
The opposition comes in, of course; it is the internet. The comments ranged dangerously from spice to weirdly fascinating. The usual fare was being brought up: bad mobile app, unfair in bans, yada yada, until this strange faction headed by @B3stBoyfriend decidingly raising accusations on pedophilia out of the blue. Bruh. Read the room. Slightly meanwhile @Dark_Light_SP is throwing shade at Twitch for their website crashing: “Hey @Twitch, #StayClassy.” That’s just brutal.
Yet good vibes prevail. @mikethequad, the advocate of accessibility to games, dropped a GIF and “let’s do this ๐ฎ.” @3llebelle is ready to roll those dice. Even @zwitterati101 says, “These Dragon games sound co cool ๐ letโs goo ๐๐ฝ.” Simple. Pure. We dig that.
With all this, mark your calendars, set reminders, and maybe prepare those wallets in case you’d like to throw your weight in favor of liberating or empowering the dragon. For a worthy cause. Passions will run wild. Honestly, we’re just there to see how badly this goes off-track. Tune in, donate if you can, and enjoy the show. And if you can, just try to turn a blind eye toward the creeps on the reply.
