In non-Halloween related notes, the leaderboards have finally been added to the game. You can view your rank against other players and friends in three distinct categories. This season will also be giving every player a chance to level-up their character and earn unique rewards and banner flairs for the seasons.
As with every event, a whole new array of outfits, gliders, and pickaxes are in the item shop for purchase. You can customize your appearance and choose your banner in the Locker, so be sure to select some new cosmetics for your collection.
On the housekeeping side, the game’s performance was improved with a reduced input latency from the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The controls should feel more responsive, and the cap for 30FPS on PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation 4 Pro has been re-enabled, proving a smooth experience.
The main meat of this patch is the added Halloween skins and newly implemented store. The “Slurp Juice” has been added as a regeneration potion that grants one health and one shield per second for 25 seconds. You will also now auto-pickup ammo, building resources, and traps resulting in a heightened quality of life.
New graphics are now visible to players caught outside the Storm safe zone, and the walls themselves have been updated. If you are a player that enjoys combat, the new “Combat Pro” controller config has been added to aid in keeping your thumbs on the sticks as much as possible. This should allow for fast weapon swaps and quick building without sacrificing combat prowess.
There are already pictures of pumpkin skinned guns circulating the web, and the infamous Jack-O-Launcher might be making a return. This truly is turning into one of the spookiest Fortnite events to date and should be a blast for any and all players involved.
