New promotional imagery for God of War: Ragnarök features Thor’s mythical family, including his wife, Sif, and daughter Thrud. Kratos and Atreus will battle several gods in the second installment of the legendary action-adventure, including Thor, Freya, and Odin the All-Father. While Thor’s cataclysmic showdown with Kratos was just teased in the teaser for God of War: Ragnarok, the God of Thunder’s loved ones are finally getting their moment in the sun.

The 2018 God of War featured Thor mainly in statues and stories, but Thor will make a real-life appearance in God of War Ragnarok, facing up against Kratos and Atreus. The franchise established the Norse god’s reputation as a ruthless and potent killer, similar to Kratos’ portrayal in early God of War games.

However, Thor’s design in the show is notably distinct from other depictions of the character since it features a potbelly to symbolize his propensity for gluttony. Actor Ryan Hurst, known for his role as Jax in the FX series Sons of Anarchy, portrays Thor in the upcoming film God of War: Ragnarok, giving the God of Thunder a significant presence.

Artwork featuring Thor and his family, including wife Sif and daughter Thrud, has been shown by developer Santa Monica Studio. Baldur, Thor’s brother, and his sons Magni and Modi are depicted in the family portrait; Kratos and Atreus killed all three in the 2018 God of War.

But to the left and right of these three usual deities stand Lady Sif with her blonde hair and Thrud with his tattoos. These two characters’ appearances hint at their significant role in God of War: Ragnarok. In addition, they may humanize Thor and evoke analogies to Kratos’s first wife and daughter.

Fans are eager to square off against Thor in God of War: Ragnarok, but a new image of the God of Thunder’s loved ones reveal some exciting details about his life away from the battlefield. Thor’s daughter Thrud and wife Sif may provide common ground between the two mythical warriors, much like Atreus helps humanize Kratos.
