Independent developer Firesprite Games has announced that their sci-fi horror experience The Persistence will be making its way to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The game takes its own perspective to survival-horror that integrates and innovates in an entirely new way. It takes several ideas from the rogue-like genre and implements them into a new form.

Firesprite Games is based out of Liverpool and they dedicate their work to innovation and crafting memorable experiences. This game brings horror to fans and creates a unique experience not found in other titles. This was originally a VR release, but now it is being converted down to flatscreen play.

The Persistence places players in a doomed space colony starships in the year 2521. Quickly it becomes evident that the ship is overrun with horrific and murderous aberrations that make their presence known almost immediately. Players are then tasked to explore, evade, and fight their way through the depths os the ever-changing labyrinth that is the colony ship.

The entire game is designed to keep players on edge from start to finish. The entire environment is procedurally generated, meaning that no two playthroughs will be identical. Never will there be a safe and secure spot appearing twice in the same game.

The experience is a brutal take on the survival genre. Live, die, repeat as you play as dozens of different clones aboard the doomed ship. Each one has the potential to be stronger than the last, but that is up to you. As the game has been converted from VR to flatscreen controls, the entire experience has been tailored with enhanced environments and post-processing effects.

This game presents a unique opportunity for other VR developers. It is not often that VR titles make the jump back to flatscreen play, but this is a great chance to see how successful the title could be outside of its VR functionality.

Fans of horror games, in general, might find this a challenge worth collecting as it provides that unique twist of randomization that is lacking in many other horror experiences.
