Another massive kills announcer voice set is coming to Dota 2, and this time it will feature Cave Johnson from Portal. The news was dropped in a brand new teaser that generates excitement for the release while making numerous jokes about Valve.
The Valve President’s signature dry tone may be heard in the Gabe Newell announcer pack that was released for Dota 2 in 2018. Of course, it’s entirely at odds with the fast-paced action on TV, but that’s precisely why many viewers found it so appealing.
A new mega kills announcer voice pack for Dota 2 has been in development for quite some time, as evidenced by the teaser video. This time, though, JK Simmons will be providing voice acting. The actor has lent his voice as Cave Johnson, the founder of Aperture Science in the Portal series, although he is probably best recognized for his work on the big screen. The actor makes a quick vocal cameo at the end of the trailer. However, none of the lines he’ll really be voicing in the game are featured.
At this time, Cave Johnson’s addition of a great deal of comedic flair to Portal 2 cemented the game’s status as a Valve classic. His voice-over may be heard discussing experiments and speaking to personnel as players explore the lost areas of Aperture Science.
In addition, he recently reprised the role for Aperture Desk Job, a game that serves mostly as a tutorial for the Steam Deck’s interface and basic functions. On the other hand, it provides some shocking details concerning Cave Johnson’s eventual demise and Aperture Science’s inner workings.
For those who can’t wait until November 3 for the release of the Battle Pass: Part 2, you’ll be happy to know that the Cave Johnson Dota 2 announcer pack will also be available at that time.
Fans of Portal in the Dota 2 community will be excited about the voice pack. Still, the release has piqued the interest of others because of the possible connection it has with recent speculations concerning Valve.
