Capcom released Elena’s theme for Street Fighter 6– “Beats in My Heart.” If the track is a funky, upbeat banger, the replies took a dramatic turn from there. Fanbases were split; some were gushing over the fresh vibes, others missed the Third Strike theme, and some took wild stabs at Street Fighter dropping 2D for arena combat. It got, indeed, ugly!

First, the music: it slaps hard, fitting Elena’s free-spirited- some might say gimmicky- vibe with happy colors, a bright track to just groove to. Some, however, missed the old Third Strike stage theme that apparently wasn’t put into the SF6 jukebox. Cue speculations. User Migeru suggested, in fancy words, that maybe Capcom ran into some issue with clearing a sample from the old track, so they just forced the creation of a new one. The new theme is charming; it can hold its own as a strong and charming song, but the nostalgic fans still bemoan the absence.

Then chaos exploded. Jodyxowens dropped a nuke: “I want Street Fighter to go full 3D arena fighter like Jump Force.” Answers came in fiercely. FGC_MEMES answered that if Capcom should go 3D, it should be for a spin-off like Street Fighter EX, never for the main series. Zenossaki, among others, continued that arena fighters (read Jump Force) have their own niche, and shoehorning Street Fighter into that would be…a choice.

And so the discussion went wild. Some insisted that 2D is Street Fighter’s identity: what is not broken should not be fixed. Others like chaos_gambit countered with Mortal Kombat’s awkward 3D era as a deterrent. Then again, jodyxowens doubled down by posting clips of Dragon Ball Sparking Zero fancy combat as it’s proof that open arena can work. The replies ranged somewhere from “worst take ever…” (natman2939) to: “just play Tekken” (Xave_YT82).

Thereupon the uproar, a few chose to speak. TheIndieDevotee said the theme gives off a Streets of Rage vibe, while Bt_Chillz reminded everyone: “We have an SF6 jukebox; just swap out the track if you miss the old one.” But really, who remembers much about that—the audacity of suggesting that Street Fighter forsake its heritage.

So where do we stand? Elena’s theme-in-the-right-sense; the jukebox drama-unanswered, and the whole 3D argument? Let’s just say Capcom will horrible be seen within ten feet of it. For now, Street Fighter 6 is gorgeously 2D with fans arguing.
