One big anniversary event is taking place on June 2 for the Street Fighter franchise, a special day to honor this fighting game’s plethora of editions. And talking of speculation with Fortnite-money-theoretically-who-knows: could these be a return for the Street Fighter skins at the Item Shop? Hype, but not official yet.

The original tweet, courtesy of a trusted source, theorized the return of collab skins to Fortnite and Street Fighter, singled out Chun-Li and Cammy. These skins have not been in the Item Shop since practically the dawn of the ages, much to the pain of those who never had a chance to buy them. But of course, if the re-release ever happens, the debate is already raging in the reply section, with OG players reacting against the newer fans.

Some players, like @Shibas_in_it, really feel that skins like Chun-Li should remain rare, stating that it is a “symbol of early commitment and grind.” In contrast, others such as @Minniefrenzy20 say that these collab skins aren’t really “OG exclusives,” and thus, they should be made available for everyone. The banter is ridiculous, with some blatantly calling others out for rage-baiting (I’m looking at you @AthanKarter).

And then comes the debate for Chun-Li. Some, like @Fortnitedude169, just plainly stated, “I don’t respect any OGs, I’m buying it,” while others said things like @RoRo_WaS_TaKeN suggested that not everyone had the V-Bucks when the skin dropped. While this is a good point — if someone has been waiting for a second chance for years, why shouldn’t they get it?

However, with the exception of Travis Scott, most of Fortnite’s collaboration skins do come back about. Just like most of the licensed content, such as Marvel, DC, and probably even Street Fighter, it usually makes another trip. So, if eventually, you couldn’t snag Chun-Li or Cammy, consider it a huge Jesus Christmas if the skins ever do return for this anniversary event.

Now, for the real question: Do they drop it tonight, or do they hold out until tomorrow, the actual anniversary? Players like @Pablito30948131 believe that they might want to avoid upstaging the Street Fighter 6 celebrations that are going on in Japan. Yet, some, such as @507Kazuma, can barely contain their excitement and go ahead with a wishlist request for Devil May Cry skins.

Whatsoever happens, it is certain that the entire Fortnite community is ready to cash in those V-Bucks. Whether it’s Team Keep-It-Rare or Team Let-Everyone-Have-Fun, its Street Fighter skins are going to be the cause of a ton of chaos and fun in the Item Shop if they ever make their return.

Keep on looking out for Fortnite updates tonight and tomorrow. Should those skins drop, you already know that servers are going to be swamped by frantic players eyeing Chun-Li’s signature look. If they don’t? Well, spicy Twitter drama, anyone?

Either way, happy anniversary to Street Fighter—and, maybe just maybe, happy shopping for the Fortnite fans.
