Sith Rey drops into the Item Shop today, traveling with many goodies for her. The news came about with a tweet forecasting the dark-side Rey from Star Wars posing for sale, taking with it a whole lot of themed cosmetics.
The bundle goes for 2,000 V-Bucks (around $16), with the skin going for 1,500 V-bucks should you be on your own. Wouldn’t every Fortnite crossover fan love this one? Well, to be fair, a few players are already debating whether this is a legit addition.
So, what’s in it? It involves a Sith Rey skin, a Sacred Jedi Text Back Bling (because, dear reader, well, the dark-side needs some reading, too), Jakku Barter and Lil’ Sandcrawler emotes, and Rey’s Speeder glider. That’s like, plenty of goodies. So, the big question remains…why Sith Rey?
Replies to the original tweet went wild, some filled with excitement and others full of pure confusion. Others were hyped: @PlxnetAlt asked jokingly, “okay now do infinite’s Vader?” And to this, others replied with less enthusiasm: “Fire whoever authorized this and wasted working hours. Thanks.” Ouch.
And then there were those people who basically barged in. Demands for the other Star Wars characters were put in by @Colonel_Stan, going full Clone Wars fan mode for Captain Rex, Commander Cody, and even B1 battle droids. The query by @TheHonoredOne21 seems fairly reasonable, though—”Where’s Sith Anakin or Padawan Anakin?” Just imagine younger angrier Darth cutting his way through the Battle Royale.
Let’s not forget those poor souls that dropped cash on the regular Rey skin. Now they’re sitting there, staring at their screens and asking, “I just bought normal Rey ☠️” (shoutout to @PayoCentral for the relatable pain).
But really, what is the kicker? Some players wondered why it couldn’t just be an edit style for the existing Rey skin. @Lemonfootball12 flat-out asked, “Couldn’t they just make this an edit style?” And honestly, that’s a legit question. Epic Games has done alternate styles for skins before; so why not here?
But some definitely weren’t clicking mad. @PopcornWatchers called the skin “bad ass” (even if bummed about the lack of hood), and @whistlingbird18 was just sad they didn’t get C-3PO.
So the verdict? Sith Rey is coming whether players cared for her or not. Some will be sudsy over her instantly, and others will pretend she doesn’t exist, while some will keep begging for Ahsoka or Mace Windu. That’s just how Fortnite collabs roll.
One thing’s for sure, though: Epic ain’t slowing that Star Wars train. How many characters have they already added now? Who’s next? Maybe Jar Jar Binks finally gets his moment in the limelight.
Anyway, if you’re in for the dark side (or really love Rey), better start hoarding those V-Bucks. The bundle drops today, and who knows how long it’s going to be available.
And if you don’t stand for it, next season’s collab awaits! Maybe then we’ll finally see Captain Rex.
