The relatively new patch of these days of Capcom is certainly helpful for health. Other people are wondering, though, “Why this long? What about bigger things left ignored?” The patch brings with it the Main Menu Tutorial, whereupon the game’s helpful guide, Sim Sim, will methodically walk you through the various modes once you enter their gates. Truly, a lovely gift for casual players or anyone hopping on during the very first time. For some, that was just enough to fill their hearts with appreciation; others felt otherwise.
The tutorial is located in the Options menu under Interface > Other Settings. Once it’s turned on, Sim Sim will give a quick tutorial on Fighting Ground, Battle Hub, and World Tour – the three main SF6 modes. This is definitely a good way to get beginner players started without having to find some random YouTube tutorials or guide wikis. The reactions, though, from the better players are… interesting to say the least.
It was felt by many that opinions had to be shared on Twitter (or X, whatever they want to call it these days). One set of school of thoughts was expressed by @whomanstudios who saw that this update looks like it was done for the coming flood of Nintendo Switch players, who would probably be least well-versed on just how the game works. Conversely, @JoshTD27 just laughed it off by saying this would “have been useful two years ago” and should be followed up by “actual FG content,” like costumes, stages, and unlockables. That really hit home!
What followed was quite the other demands—because there always are. For example, @adey_sama wants separate playlists for menu and character select music; @_shanesg brings up Outfit 3 DLC for Year 2 characters, which has been withheld despite being included in the pass; and @KPopPapi goes full nuclear: “QoL improvement: Sakura as the first character of Season 3 or I uninstall.” I’m not sure they were joking.
Music settings in particular seem to be a sore issue. @Qerat_FGC and @yimbo467708 had a full debate on whether you are able to mute just the menu music without silencing everything else. It turns out you can’t; which is… yeah. @Azgoon69 also thinks stage-specific music settings would be great. And then there was @RitzScythe, putting the Switch folks on notice: turn off crossplay, “Capcom refuses to actually ban cheaters.” Shocking.
Here we go again with the Steam forums, with @DotSpiked saying, “Fricking chaos in here,” begging Capcom to send a moderator. Honestly, feels like the mood. Some players appreciated the tutorials for what it actually were (@Seahawkfan118 called it “helpful for new players and casuals”), while these others, e.g., @prixismckle, weren’t having that. Because they see Capcom as “a joke now” due to what they view as a tiny update after months of waiting.
And what happens after? Well, usual charade for more characters (Sakura fans stay losing), better cosmetics, and half-hearted hope for a legit Season 3 reveal. @PuloMemo just straight-up asked for it, and oh my God, yes. The update for Elena is solid, but the community is loud in their demand for more—be it balance patches, new modes, or dang costumes they already paid for.
Until then, new players are lucky to have Sim Sim giving them a hand in Street Fighter 6. Everybody else: keep dreaming about a worthy update. Or on the off chance you may take what JoshTD27 says and just go play Virtua Fighter.
