So, gamers, brace yourselves because this last weekend of the Splitgate Showdown is going to be hotter than ever before! A mini Twitter competition had the Acti gaming fiends representing their three teams: Aim Gods, Degens, or OGs, after the bundles made it into the store. And as random as the replies always get, some cluster of hype, frustration, and outright madness ensued.
Well, what is there really to look forward to? There are three teams fighting for ultimate glory, and now you can buy bundles representing their colors. Big up the Aim Gods! (Sniping is fun). Degens (never guilty of things that spawn chaos), or OGs (old-timers from Day 1). That tweet is a typical Splitgate experience—it’s fun and fairly serious about just going ahead and spending your credits!
And the back-and-forth banter in the replies is spectacular in every way. Players went full team spirit here: from @AtomikGamezTTV showing some love to the good guys and saying, “OG’s fr. no other choice,” to @parkeefc2563167 coming back for the “aim gods on top” sales pitch. On the opposite side, @kowzTV gave his regard for an apparent Degens rebound. “It’s like a high school sports game with portals and plasma rifles.”
On the other hand, there were complaints. What is the biggest grievance? Server woes—or rather, the lack of any—came primarily from the European sides. @RUD1K4 practically goes wild here: “Stop putting me on NA servers! I’m in Europe, yet 80% of the time, I’m stuck on NA servers with over 120 ping.” Oof. Harsh. And there are more. @wronczi asserted the same opinion, rendering the game “unplayable” because of the lag and stutters. Even Battle Royale gets a bad rap for its uncleanness.
That was when the dreaded “no regs from @BumblebeeHfc” came in—the classic “no regs no regs no regs” after @BumblebeeHfc lost a match. If you’ve played any FPS, you understand that pain. Shots not registering is the ultimate buzz killer. Further, @juice26_ called attention to an arguably bugged kill counter, saying they dropped 50 kills but only got credit for 30. It might be time for Splitgate devs to check their maths.
Going along with that, others are saying that they are doing their “daily check to see if ranked has dropped yet,” with @Destinynerd64 only wanting to know when the races are held. Those are priorities.
And let’s not forget about those bundles. @HiredGunSG said that the team skins were “too same-y” and that they would have bought them if each team had a unique look. Fair enough. Meanwhile, @snoiee is holding out for the next Dev Hour before actually buying any skins. Waiting is definitely a virtue, but FOMO is alive and well.
Isn’t that what we call a good time? Showdown is an incredible way to put on an event, but the community has some thoughts on server stability and in-game bugs. Who will be bested by Aim Gods, Degens, or OGs? Who can know. But what is certain is that any bit of drama around it, be it celebration or complaint, is fueled by passion.
What else? Probably don’t even attempt to play on EU servers if you are planning to get in on the final weekend. Just saying.
