The Sniper Elite III has just celebrated its 11th birthday, and the Rebellion celebration tweet has opened gates of nostalgia, occasionally mixed with frustrated cries from the fans. Some just want to reminisce about co-op campaigns and insane difficulty spikes, while others are practically begging Rebellion to make the game available on digital storefronts once more.

The initial wave of reactions contained sting and solitudes alike. Such as the player DigitalJaymz, who went back to their memories of co-op on PS4, of grinding out hardest difficulty levels together. “We played a new level each night till we finally finished the game,” and described it as absolutely the best casual experience with friends. In stark contrast, Lachlan Rex still remains haunted by the Airport Mission, where an obnoxiously stubborn car explosion has blocked progress for *years*- “Today I am stuck at the very same point,” he admitted. Oof.

Big drama time: Coming in from Xbox and PlayStation players, these abound with questions of why none of us can buy this game anymore. Slimjimnewrims outright lays the accusation on Rebellion: “Can’t buy it on Xbox still. I thought you guys said you were gonna fix that years ago?” William John Holmes continued wrathfully: “Not on Xbox store anymore!” And it’s not just the Xbox—Edgar Solis (Punkerman_00) begged, “Please bring back the game to the PlayStation Store.”

And what would be strangest? It’s out there for PC and Switch, said Gerintium; whereas for the console players, only physical copies are available. Certainly a big point that pains the addicts, such as WinterFr0stByte, who finished the whole game 100% but somehow still has to get the DLC for full achievements. “We still need Sniper Elite and V2 for the last achievement,” said they, tagging that as pure “pain.”

Then the remake clan will stir up trouble. EliteFuller did not hold back: “Sniper Elite 3 is a masterpiece & we need a remastered of it.” Gerintium jokingly (or not) responded to Rebellion’s anniversary tweet: “By announcing a remaster?” With the current hype around the Sniper Elite movie (shoutout to Rob The Scot’s Duncan reference), it feels right.

Charles Fenech (decaying_orbit_) went wild for Mission 6, Kasserine Pass, with enough exclamation points to convey its intensity, while Gerintium also lauded the campaign’s end for “a punch to it.” Then real keeping came from Itz_Crossbow, saying Sniper Elite 2 is still the best, but hey, they did ask about Sniper Elite 6, so the hype train ain’t stopping.

Now, what’s coming next? The anniversary post and Rebellion turned into a massive nostalgia bomb, and it’s evident the players are hungry for more-albeit the return of the game to the stores, a remastered version, or just some recognition of the licensing issues that keep it delisted. Happy 11th to the game that made us all obsessed with slow-mo bullet cams for now. Hopefully, we will have some fixes before year twelve-or better still, a way to replay that damn Airport Mission without a car exploding.

Side note: mlgxxx808 confirmed that it’s “still playable online” if you own it, so dust off those copies, lads and ladies. The desert awaits.
