The Xbox drop a la Blanca has really whacked a few Hollow Knight die-hards into lunacy-this freefall of Silksong on Game Pass from the first day this year has really done wonders for the proverbial mystery. The exact day does not exist yet; just the confirmation has shaken the gaming world.

And by shaking, somewhat of hype, skepticism, and screaming capital-letter words all around!

“SILKSONG DAY ONE THIS YEAR,” some tweet issues were said, with a link to their announcement, and replies to this? Utter madness. They really got flooded with netizens grimacing about giving an actual release date now, all-new memes of the past delays, and common outbursts in Spanish and Portuguese, which read: “GIVE US THE DAMN DATE ALREADY.” One user, @medusojuegos, summarized perfectly, “OKAY BUT WHEN IS THE DAY ONE?!?!? WHEEEEEEEN¡?!!¡”

This is the occasion in which the long-awaited sequel relation from Team Cherry has even given a window for the release, albeit tantalizingly short. Silksong was first technically announced in 2019. This would lead many to wonder if an argument would be made for delay after years without any updates, coupled with vague updates. Maybe it is time gamers start feeling skeptical. @Tchutoune answered honestly: “You lied last time, why should we believe you again?” While @OniGiRiG0 warned, “If you bullshit us again like last time, expect riot.”

Let’s really get into this-maybe the doubters, under the surface, are actually rooting for this! Silksong is truly one of those games which has been residing rent-free in the players’ minds since announcement. Silksong is a sequel to the much-loved Hollow Knight, back in 2017, and shares all the things-a tight Metroidvania feel, a brand new protagonist (Hornet!), and somehow a wonderfully scary world to wander in. Heck, even just knowing the game will be released on Game Pass on day one almost feels like icing on the cake!

From that Xbox tweet, some more just little hints were dropped about their perpetually-in-the-making portable device-which some think may launch alongside Silksong. @YourAnonTruth1 joked, “This Xbox handheld looks good” with @PlatinumPengwin adding, “Let me know when I can pre-order the handheld Xbox!”

Not everybody’s happy about it. @SnakeEyesC32 just shrugged and said, “Never been less interested in a new Xbox product.” That seems to be one of the few disagreeing voices, though-the rest are here, refreshing store pages and praying for a shadow drop.

What to do now? Probably more waiting. But there is at least a glimmer of a light at the end of the tunnel. And Silksong IS coming in 2025, and will be straight on Game Pass. Whether that is this next month or next December, nobody knows. Besides, after five years of delay, a few months more really won’t do us in.

Probably. (Okay, maybe.)
