Rare’s Sea of Thieves just wrapped up the Wild Things #SoTShot contest and the winners have finally been named. This competition, which required players to immortalize the wildest and most beautiful moments on film, left the dev team completely staggered by the submissions. But after some very hard deliberations, the winners have been declared-congratulations to MakkuroVdel, ChaserGolden, Instagram’s _purplechicken, and firstorder5227 for the beautiful snaps. Prizes are now being sent out through DMs, so keep those inboxes open, pirates!
The contest was for the vast, colorful, and unpredictable nature where every session could have easily turned into a screenshot-worthy moment. They really put all the effort into it, bringing in kraken battles and sunset serenity. And the community just can’t keep still. The announcement was flooded with congratulating replies; @SwordSandwich was among them among others, “Great shots! GGs everyone!” Using a simple “Congrats๐๐” was @bySimon, and finally, @CaptainGG_R threw in some good ol’ pirate lingo: “Congratulations for you all!!๐ดโ ๏ธ๐.”
Other reactions weren’t so celebratory, though. @Francis went off on a tangent: “im selling stuff but it isnt counting, cofs, no rep either.” Classic Sea of Thieves chaos, right?
The devs also gave shout-outs to other great entries from @Cptchickenisle, @JaesunX, Instagram’s captgigachad, and Bluesky’s milleddollar. So if you went unlucky this time, don’t sweat it: a brand-new contest armed with an “anarchic” theme launches on May 19th. Time to dust off those in-game cameras and begin framing the next legendary shot.
Anyway, if you haven’t gotten into the Sea of Thieves adventure yet, this contest is just one perfect display of why the game’s player base is one of the most creative (and chaotic) ones out there. Fighting some skeletons, fishing, or just chilling out at the open sea-there’s always some epic stuff worth capturing. And now, with Rare standing behind this game all the way with events like these, it’s never a better time to set sail.
Once again, congratulations to the winners; may your loot be happily storaged while your legendary Screenshot skills further develop. To all the others who competed, though, you’d better start working on your camera angles for the next contest. It’s going to be absolutely wild. Or anarchic. Sea of-Thieves call–that is almost one and the same.
