Brace yourselves for a bunch of Season 16 insights directly from Producer Director Drew Stevens and cures to many a longstanding ailment. Be it dive mechanics or Hourglass mode tweaks, the devs are indeed mucking about with it all. Naturally, the community has opinions.

Speaking about diving here, the players complain about actually not diving-being stuck below or hard to get to the surface. Kylefrotalian put up a clip of skeleton ships pulling aerial stunts while engaged in combat. Yep, it does exist. Drew mentioned he was aware of it and was working on it but refused to give in to the allure of an ETA. Classic “soon™” vibe.

Then there’s Hourglass mode-actually kind of PvP-and people love to hate it. Nature likes to suggest that probably the access should be locked behind becoming a Pirate Legend to cut down on smurfs and cheaters. Drew said that locking it from progression is indeed planned but “harder than we thought.” Translation: it’s going to be harder to hold your breath for. Although B0NA stopped Drew short, with the minimum hours for Hourglass to deter cheater-star actually being considered by the dev team.

Security was, just for a moment, party topic of the day. Ondřej Bakan pressed for a “second chance” policy, arguing that innocent players in an anti-cheat sweep should be able to recover. At least some have disagreed, with David Wycleft decrying the presence of a “protected predator class” in the game (ouch). Drew answered diplomatically that they’re constantly working on security but didn’t get into specifics.

I mean, Fight Night returns with exclusive rewards—HitReg Ethan is already dreaming of the gold Pirate Legend curse. Naterino Bandino begged for more frequent Fight Nights to keep Hourglass alive, and Drew seemed positive about it—fingers crossed.

Now, after that, the cries for it are not necessarily all there. Stavi_G called this update “empty.” He or she said Drew’s videos always start with “it’s been a struggle.” Fair, but hey—more transparency is better than radio silence, right?

And we slide right back into chaotic discourse: Potato complained about lag spikes; Robbin Hook dragged a banned player in the comments below; and Kittenspreee clapped back at the negativity: “I’m just not a miserable person.” Mood.

Serious again: Season 16 fixes are coming; Fight Night returns with a vengeance; and somewhere in-between, the team juggles community feedback. Is it enough? Time will tell- along with a few more skeleton ships flying under the night.

Anyway, keep those sails up. At least, there’s a glimmer of hope. Indulge in the mayhem while preparation for hope is underway. Sea of Thieves, finally.
