While Riot Games has initiated a new charity effort for VALORANT, the response from the community has been, well, slightly varying. Running from May 15th to May 30th, half of all profits from sales of weapon skins, along with the full revenues of accessory sales of the “Give Back // V25 Bundle,” shall be granted toward the Riot Games Social Impact Fund. The premise sounds good in theory. Well, players themselves have a massive list of things to comment on.
First and foremost went the insults toward the bundle itself. This set of skins is considered by some in the community to be “worst one yet,” with comments like “Yo who tf chooses these skins?” Meanwhile, others, such as @ItsDANYGEN, think that maybe only a handful of skins in the bundle are worth buying, identifying the Recon Phantom and Prime Classic as must-buy skins. @Plantasaur, however, is just finding the pricing “WILD,” especially for gun buddies costing 975 VP (Valorant Points for those who don’t know).
The skepticism then extends to where the bigger portion of money is actually going. @yuDDha404 pulled the trigger on the accusation that the Social Impact Fund is “just an investment fund for their company.” Ouch. Others such as @WrongOpinionDel joked about how “tax write-off season for VALORANT once again.” Not exactly what Riot bet on.
And then there are the few outright refusing to part with their money. @hotgermanbabe: “im not giving u money,” bluntly stated. A few others went with @Kulcha_566’s: “No money from my side 👁️👄👁️.” Just before the usual “fix the game first” complaints popped up from @6ft5AutisticGuy.
Anyway, a little positivity. A few players like @sun. said they already have some of the skins, while @AlexakkaSoma defended the bundle, arguing that the Ghost and Recon Phantom are good picks. Still, the turnout is mostly all ‘meh,’ with a healthy serving of skepticism.
Will this charity drive actually generate huge benefits for the Riot Social Impact Fund? Or are the players going to keep their wallets tightly sealed until there are better skins released? Time will tell, but one thing for sure, whether Riot likes it or not, VALORANT fans have whether about it to say.
Now, if that is holding you back, then stay till next Night Market. There, you might have some discounts on something you want. Just saying.
