The recent Resident Evil 2 remake was one of the most popular releases in the gaming industry, even going so far as to nearly win Game of the Year at the 2019 Game Awards. Capcom is likely hoping for the same result with their newest remake of the Resident Evil franchise, Resident Evil 3.
With the third installment well on the way to most consoles and PC, many fans of the horror franchise have been keeping an eye out for any news. Capcom added a preorder to the Steam page for those fans that were ready to devote themselves to the release.

Originally released twenty years ago at the turn of the millennia in September of 1999, the remake intends to bring fresher graphics and mechanics to the well-acclaimed horror classic. While the original was plenty horrifying, there’s a special level of terror that can come from playing these classics with modern graphics and technology.
Throughout Resident Evil 3, players control protagonist Jill Valentine as she attempts to escape Raccoon City. Players are pursued by the haunting Nemesis as they desperately flee Raccoon City and the T-Virus outbreak, with a story affected heavily by your actions.
There have been reports that this remake will be more action-oriented than the previous, which many say may have been held back by the technology of the time. Though the core of the game will remain the same mechanically and thematically, there are likely to be slight changes complemented by the new iteration of the game.
One of those additions is the new multiplayer game mode, Resident Evil Resistance. This game mode sees players in a 1-vs-4 online multiplayer game with four survivors facing off against the Mastermind.
Preordering Resident Evil 3 doesn’t come with a massive number of goodies, as the only award mentioned thus far is a cosmetic classic costume pack. There’s always the chance that Capcom could come out and announce a few other rewards for those that preorder the game, but thus far, the classic costume pack is all they have to offer.
One also might ask themselves the purpose of preordering a digital copy of the game as well. Preorders originate from game retailers having a limited number of physical copies, and there’s a pretty strong chance that they aren’t going to run out of Steam copies.
Resident Evil 3 will be releasing towards the start of Q2 in 2020, releasing on April 3rd. It’s unknown which Resident Evil franchise is next for Capcom to release again.
