Inops is a Nintendo Switch puzzle game released last January 2019. It’s developed by ZRZStudio and puts players in a puzzle scenario following the adventures of the Inops. After a successful life on the Nintendo Switch, the game has branched onto Xbox One showing the unique puzzle game to a whole new audience.
The game takes the traditional style of puzzle-solving and instead mixes it with the power of Inops. You can take the whole horde through challenges, or split the group as to safely pass by obstacles.
The Inops travel through dark mines and across twisted jungles as they escape traps, solve puzzles, and dodge enemies. The Inops come with a unique ability to either clump up into one single Inop or split into many little creatures. This ability helps them navigate the world and interact with unique components.
The world is a gorgeous, almost painting-like environment that gives a feeling of darkness and despair. Although the Inops seem like happy creatures, they navigate through the clockwork filled jungle and extra-terrestrial Elect-City on a strange journey.
What has caught many fan’s attention is the way that the Inops feel like part of the world. This is their environment, and as you explore through the levels, you get a weird sense of adventure and the unknown. The Inops must work together to navigate the strange terrain, which presents a strange view at puzzle solving.
The ultimate goal of the title is to get as many Inops as you can safely to the end of the level. Spikes, acid, and space-invader style creatures will kill you instantly, so you have to make sure you get your timing down to navigate safely.
Level unlocks are based on the number of Inops you have saved on previous levels. If you are not careful, the game will prevent you from progressing unless you gather up more Inops by replaying past puzzles. While it is favorable to save as many as possible, you will find yourself loving and hating these adorable creatures as you navigate them through each deathtrap.
The game is priced at $9.99 for Xbox One and works delightfully well. It is up to you to save the Inops race as you navigate through the puzzle-filled wasteland to save as many of them as you can. You can also find Inops on the Nintendo Switch store if you wish for more mobile access to this unique title.
