From Twitter, the World of Insomniac had flexes for the rare, Burbank-display case, and the gamers went ballistic. The picture-perfect setup with a ✨Limited Edition✨ tag is the talk of the town around scalpers and wheeling and dealing in Wolverine.
The clean and shiny case-“maybe best I can ever get is just a picture”-nay, with the tweet being fairly simple, almost like a spur-of-the-moment hype post accompanied by a picture. But the replies? Oh, boy! Some gamers began cracking jokes about how scalpers probably swept all of them under their shelves before anybody could put them onto pictures. “Ah, the limited edition that was bought up by scalpers,” came one reply, and yep, they captured the mood.
Then there were the more creative responses. Killer_Clown4191 (what a username) requested Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart-themed PS5 covers and controllers and said “take my money anyday” to Insomniac. I honestly agree. Responses ranged from hype to “why has this not happened yet?” Marv2030 ramped it up with “Bros dishing out ideas like sweets 🍭,” which is probably a pretty unfair assessment of gamer brainstorming sessions.
Of course, no hype train for games is complete without the inevitable: Where is Wolverine? One gamer was outright asking whether the upcoming Wolverine and Venom games would be playable on these display units, while another begging Insomniac to put on a show of the Wolverine game via these 30th Anniversary devices. The desperation, man.
And the International Team was up. MertGs1481069 popped up to request Turkish subtitles for Spider-Man and Wolverine, noting that Spider-Man 2 had 26 languages but no Turkish. Good point! Meanwhile, omar_ratchet summarized the pain of all limited editions: “The problem is that it is rare and the pocket is crying in the corner (its price) 🥲.”
Not to mention how awesome the display itself is: “Sheesh, that case is bussin’! 🔥” Well, someone else already pleaded, “can I have it? 🥺” (Same, Mike. Same.)
So what do we really learn from this? Well, it’s that Insomniac sure knows how to tease, the gamers know how to respond, and scalpers have probably been lurking in the shadows since then. For now, we can only stare on in awe at the beautiful display and dream. Or start stashing away money for the next limited edition release-whichever happens first.
Meanwhile, keep an eye on Insomniac’s social platforms. It never gets boring with Wolverine hints, Ratchet & Clank merch daydreams, and the eternal fight against scalpers.
