Well, Blizzard just went and killed every last ounce of hype for Overwatch 2 Season 17, and there are gamers melting down. The devs went in with all the crazy changes: new heroes, a spanking new Flashpoint map, and the arguably most chaotic ever-conceived addition, the Stadium Forge tools.

Now, on the Stadium: some love it, some hate it with all their might. Koala Keith PhD (yes, real PhD) called it-“garbage,” and he went on to say that Blizzard should just focus on more heroes. Then there are fellow opposing nigNyt, who just wanna know when character swapping would finally be enabled in Stadium mode…. Like, cut us some slack, Blizz.

New heroes, eh? So Zenyatta is gonna have some sort of weapon power build, and if I may call him Mufasa, he’s scared to death of how broken it might get. One other ability apparently has healing barriers of a sort that sound straight out from Invisible Woman’s potions. Marvel Rivals who??

But Switch players have seriously been crying for a Switch 2 patch, with many of the replies begging for Blizzard to pay attention to their sufferings. One player took off a whole week from work just to grind through the Season 17; now, this is dedication (or maybe a questionable life choice, we’ll never know).

Then matchmaking complaints started. Gaymface put it perfectly: “All-stars shouldn’t be paired with rookies.” I mean, what was I, a certified noob, doing getting paired up against someone with an Overwatch PhD—-just not fair.

Then there’s this strange sort of random chaos: someone getting bonked on the head with a NERF gun during a dev video; Dylan getting some loving for his tattoos, and a bugged-out Donut Delivery item not scaling properly. Classic Overwatch messing with us.

So yeah, Season 17 will be a rollercoaster of hype, salt, and utter chaos. New content? Hell, yes. Balance issues? Well, those have hung around. Switch 2 update? Two words: Maybe someday. What is sure is that there wouldn’t be any shortage of things that the Overwatch players would complain about.

Here’s the full dev breakdown if you want to get a load of the madness yourself. Just… maybe don’t take a week off of work for it. Probably not worth it.
