The gigantic announcement for Season 17 of Overwatch has sent Blizzard players into fury, some in the negative side. The real icing had been the news of All-Star Mercy Epic skin, which is unlocked when somebody hits All-Star rank in Stadium mode. Cue the cheers… and then chaos in the replies.
First things first: The skin. Well, the All-Star Mercy Epic skin is sleek and shiny, and practically any Mercy main would want it. It has that two-thousand-and-sport vibe where she would be ready for some serious trash-talk for Overwatch League (if so still existed). The best part about it is that it’s free for all: Get yourself to All Star rank in Stadium, boom-you got the skin. Easy, right? Well…
Not so fast. Even as Blizzard tweeted about the skin being there, the comments flooded with hype, frustration, and confusion all together. Some were excited for it, like @cnnamorolls practically screaming, “THANK YOU OVERWATCH 🥹,” while others were already complaining about the grind: “@SassAFrassCass7 Goddamnit Blizzard. As a Mercy completionist I HAVE to grind to get this one 😭😂❤️.”
Then… things took a nosedive. Real big time. Queue time ATMs were throwing a fit with @Samyjoice36 posting a screenshot that had 20,000 people in a queue. The horror. Commented @TheKrueger1428: “What’s with the 4000 player queue and the 52gb update on Xbox?” Come on, bro, ain’t nobody got time for that.
About those missing features: Some angry souls, like @grey_tangent and @ShadowMasterDF, moseyed into fury when the Practice Range just disappeared. “How the hell is anyone suppose to test out builds if the practice range is just gone wtf is wrong with you people 😑,” raged @grey_tangent.
In a similar way, those banned were getting update emails about the season. “My account got falsely banned and still emails me about season 17? Kinda funny,” @Me4178667285698 stated. Meanwhile, @Nolanprice_0000 and @BlkCarmichael got their accounts back thanks to some dude named @stinefix. Wild.
And then there was that classic Overwatch toxic behavior. @ocguy2020 tightened things up with: “Can you start penalizing sups who try to dps instead of healing in stadium?” On a similar note, @turntech90dhead had it :enough: with this game, “uninstalling and not coming back id rather play paladins or rivals at this point.” Oof.
And those should have their price-point complaints. @TootyFrooty420 sarcastically cheered, “heck yeah! i love when yall decide to lock the only good skins behind your 40$ bundle!” As for @JoshAdams798619, he vowed to “never spending another dime on this game.”
Yep, here comes Overwatch Season 17, bringing all its drama. The All-Star Mercy skin is a very nice reward, but the queue times, missing features, and overall chaos are causing players to have…well, differing opinions on the matter. So, are you grinding for that skin, or are you chillin’ in that 20k-player queue? Either way, good luck out there, heroes.
And hey, Blizzard—how about fixing the Practice Range? Just saying.
