Alright, Spartans, let’s get real. You cannot afford to forego Operation Legacy in Halo Infinite. Go and grab that iconic Hayabusa helmet until July 8. Uh-huh: An item driving the adrenaline through players sweating out the last few Spartan Points before this is snatched away. Judging from all the mass exit on Twitter, this is not a drill.

Reason being, 343 Industries has let loose the information about the Hayabusa helmet, customarily a homage to the ninja-inspired armor from Halo 3, presently available to claim through The Exchange. But and this is an “if” option that it ends on July 8. Cue the frenzy. Players are scrambling to gain enough Spartan Points (SP), some even wondering if it might ever come back. Spoiler alert: No one has any idea.

The tweet from the official Halo account says it all: “Channel your inner Ryu Hayabusa ⚔️ Earn Spartan Points in #OperationLegacy and claim your legendary helmet in The Exchange before July 8!” Simple, right? Wrong. The responses are a mixture of hype, confusion, and pure desperation. One player summed it all up: “I’m glad the helmet is here. It’s awesome. But why does it leave so soon?!” Man’s got 30,000 SP and another 10,000 to go-a lot of matches.

Then we heard @kalposting: “ITS LEAVING THE EXCHANGE??!!” Previously, @sniper_adriel was under the impression that it was for good; whoops. And don’t let us forget @DredgenShinobi’s straightforward approach: “Stop the FOMO.” Probably, too late, my friend. That FOMO is in full gear.

Yet, for some Spartans, it’s honestly not all about gloom and grinding as they are flaunting their early unlocks: @JamesHalliday94 shared a nice screenshot with the caption: “Luckily I had enough SP to get this beaut day one! 🙏🏻”. Then, @AphonicWanderer posted a video of his Hayabusa Spartan tearing through enemies, jokingly saying: “It was worth every match played! 🫡”.

Any and all controversial matters surrounding Halo simply must include some glitz of tech issues. With a rebellion cry, @Neon_Warlord came out with: “Hey, are the servers suffering rn? I can’t find many matches in modes that are typically popular.” Classic. Meanwhile, @OolongDao begged for some customization: “Can you all channel your inner Bungie and allow me to swap parts on Boggart?”

Big question? What will happen come July 8? Is the helmet going to get vaulted, or will it go straight into the cash shop? No one’s got an answer, but you bet players are giving side-eye to 343’s past history with monetization.

Then, there’s the grind. The helmet costs 40k SP, so unless you’ve been hoarding SPs this whole time, you’re looking at an insane grind. @Elitezealot97 even asked if the coating (read: color scheme) came with it, and @ManmightyFN responded that it’s part of Fred’s armor. So… maybe? There goes the confusion.

Bottom line: If you want that Hayabusa drip, you have all the way until July 8 to collect those SPs. After that? Maybe it goes on sale again. Maybe it goes on sale for $20. Or maybe it’s just washed down memory lane like so many other limited-time Halo items before. Either way, time is ticking, Spartans. Get to grinding. Or not. But if you do miss it, don’t say we didn’t warn you.

And to @wort_wort_wort for keeping the Elite battle cry alive. Some things never change.
