Overwatch fans, brace yourselves! Our devs have just poured out a piquancy. Indeed, Stadium mode-the crazy, fast and hype slice of Overwatch 2-had officially hit a staggering 2.3 MILLION matches. You heard right. Aaron Keller, the director of the game, is also preparing to write one more Director’s Take blog deep diving into the past, present, and future of his most loved mode in celebration.

What’s all the fuss about Stadium? For the few who may possibly have been under a big fat rock (or are just grinding solo ranks), here it is: Stadium is basically the fast-paced, no-holds-barred action Overwatch has to offer. It’s that mode where players can jump in, frag out, and forget about all that meta nonsense. Pure uncontained chaos. Apparently, they just can’t get enough because 2.3 million matches are no joke.

As Keller elucidates in the blog (which you can read in the link in the tweet; we will wait), the story of Stadium has moved from being casual fun to something renowned with hysteria.

He describes how the initial days were such that team included all sorts of throwing ideas onto the wall and the things that made it work and most excitingly, what lies ahead. Spoiler: Very bright future ahead. Maybe some new maps? New twist on the formula? Keller is tucking a lot of info close to his vest, but the hype is real.

And we can be forthright in saying that it is not only PR. Overwatch 2 has had its shares of highs and lows, but even then, modes like Stadium only serve to remind you that the players are still enamored with that old-soft heart of OW. After all, it only had to remind that what is often best does just come from letting your community run wild because there is no stress of ranked games-no pressure from esports-just vibes!

So then, players, what are you waiting for? Jump in, throw a couple hits (or pulse bombs), and find out what’s sent millions of folks flocking to matches if you haven’t tried Stadium yet. And, of course, keep an eye out for that blog; hints from Keller hinted that this is just the tip of the iceberg.

Did we mention that it hit 2.3 million matches? Because dayum. That’s a lot of charging Reinhardts.
