Fans are Collections::Online:1: very-, much really happy as Blizzard just dropped the announcements about the upcoming Stadium mode in Overwatch 2.
The working grind behind the scenes has been just to bring further tweaks and polish to the mode as inspired by the player feedback from its Closed Alpha Playtest. And now- show off the work done in a blog.
Then, it goes on to talk about how the Stadium has changed from the previous time it was shown in the Overwatch 2 Spotlight event. Changes? So many. Fine-tuning the mechanics, adjusting the layout, and those little things that made the testers go “Hmm”- they are all probably fixed. What is most interesting is that players will be able to try stadium play during the Closed Alpha, commencing on April 22.
So no replies yet on the tweet, but mark my words, Overwatch is going to be flooded with the comments once the blog finishes reading. Expect hype and negativity, topped off with the regular “why hasn’t this been in the game already?” take.
But that would be the time, as much as he is topping with hype on April 22. The Alpha players are out to drive what is probably Overwatch 2 in its next evolution, and if not-well, a shiny new blog.
Blizzard has kept a lot of it under wrap, but they have made some open statements regarding changes as they learned. This is a good sign, especially after all the turmoil surrounding OW2’s PvE plans. Perhaps this is the win they need at this point for Stadium.
Mark the date, then. Follow that blog and pray to the matchmaking gods to get an Alpha invite. This could be the beginning of something new-or just another mode that fades out. Time will tell (and player feedback).
