Gigabyte has recently registered a group of AMD RX 5500-Series GPUs. This includes the RX 5500 and the RX 5500 XT cards among others. The registered codes are also related to various SKUs being processed for overclocking. This is an indication that the RX 5500-series will be available in the market with factory-boosted settings.

Despite their variances, all the submitted cards for overclocking will have an 8GB video memory. There are no clear indications whether these specs are GDDR5 or GDDR6. But it won’t be a surprise if the GPUs will come with low-valued video memory chips. Though, suggestions are circulating online that the RX 5500M laptop will be released with a GDDR6 motherboard. Given that it would have a mid-ranged Navi processor, it still has to be rigged with a quality video memory.

Gaming laptops and possible over-clocked variants are also on the lists of RX 5500 XT. Although, the RX 5500 card will only be offered with the WindForce cooling technology. This news confirms that the tech giant will be releasing two distinct cards from the same series. This would have the same relational release as the models RX 5700 and the RX 5700 XT graphics cards which were launched just months ago.

Nonetheless, how these GPUs will be released are still being argued about. Reports from CompuBench show the Navi 14 GPU featuring a 24 CU and having a 1,536 RDNA core. This would only confirm that the XT version of the GPU would have a leveled specs.
What’s more, WCCFTech glued the hints about the RX 5500M graphics card claiming that the GPU score-count is at 1,408. This was also corroborated by the recent news published by VideoCardz. So, the RX 5500 XT will possibly have 24 compute units with a 1,536 RDNA core. And another variant, the RX 5500 will be sporting 22 CUs with 1,408 RDNA core.
Gigabyte will be releasing several models from the series including:

  • GV-R55WF2-8GD
  • GV-R55XTD6-8GD
  • GV-R55XTOC-8GD
  • GV-R55XTWF2OC-8GD
  • GV-R55XTGAMING-8GD

The computer hardware distributor may be giving us a hint at the imminent release of the RX 5500-series, but this is just the tip of the iceberg. Gigabyte is also giving us hints about the GTX 1660 Super which is set for possible release by the last weeks of October. Interestingly, the GTX 1650 is not on the list, and it’s supposed to be out in the market by the 22nd of October.
