The Summer Sale for Switch games has commenced, and while gamers are busy snapping up discounted titles, some didn’t find much to keep them occupied. The sale makes a limited number of titles discounted through the designers until July 9 at 11:59 PM PT. But hey-normally, Nintendo sales come with them an air of quarrel.
Number one, the good stuff: Some people have their eyes on Persona 3 Portable and Xenoblade Chronicles 1. So @Sk31et0n_fr tweeted: Received Persona 3 portable and I’m considering Xenoblade 1… So, there is the potential of some fine deals. Another user, @cfusionpm, was debating buying Super Mario 3D World now or waiting for Mario Wonder, indicating that the sale might have triggered some spending decisions.
Try and convince yourself that this is the other side of the story. Many gamers just see through Nintendo for being Nintendo: their-first-party titles rarely ever go at the steep discounts, and when they do, it is really not enough for some. @Holy_lettuce unequivocally stated: “You guys really gotta stop being stingy on the prices of games that are 8 years old. Mario Odyssey still ain’t worth its sale price. It should be $10 and honestly $25 all the time at this point.” Ouch, that was a stinging statement.
But it’s not only about the price. In fact, some gamers are treating the great sale news as a perfect opportunity to heap more hatred on Nintendo about other matters. @SchwoigaGeld interjected, “Revert the MKW update!”, and @gabriel_m70735 just yelled up, “Fix online Mario Kart World.” So that doesn’t imply that everybody is going to collectively shift focus towards the sale from their ongoing sorrows.
Back to the Switch 2 talk. @Mrdope662 slyly or perhaps not wondered if “can one get together and try to get a 60 fps patch for Nintendo Switch 2 on Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3?” @DARKB1KE, however, blatantly shot back the dose of truth, “Switch 2 isn’t even available yet.” Typical Nintendo fan- always looking to the future whilst complaining about the present!
And now for that age-old pitched discussion as to if these Nintendo sales are worth it or not. @VioletVortX weighed in with, “Not much of a sale, a lot of these games are even cheaper secondhand,” while @BocaLokatv added fuel to the fire with, “The most ghetto summer sale of all time, so damn anti-consumer..”
But hey, some are happy with any discount. @KokSenWai came up for the sale price for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe by claiming, “It’s $50. Pretty cheap for a major title like Mario Kart tbh.” Then, @_NATSU_KAZE_ continued laughing by tweeting, “Sorry, would’ve paid $100, lol. Having a ton of fun over here.”
So, what is the verdict? Anyone holding out for that one Switch game could place the family’s savings on this sale but in exchange would be greeted by a whimper of a discount. Any hopes of Nintendo actually selling for a drop in price like Steam is a foolish dream.
The sale is on! Clock is ticking…and so will remain the chaotic nature of the Nintendo community. Happy shopping or complaining; whichever you lean towards.
