Nostalgic gamers got a huge surprise with some GameCube classics being made available for members of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, and more are coming.

The announcement stirred mayhem in the gaming community, with the replies filling up with demands, complaints, and sheer excitement. While many were simply thrilled with the thought of going back to their childhood favorites, others had *opinions* about the selections from Nintendo.

One of the major points of conversation? It seems a bit odd to actually sell the original GameCube version of WindWaker on the platform when the HD remaster is already available. “Make it make sense Nintendo,” added SpacedDuck, gathering the frustration of those who expected the polished Wii U version. On the flip side, some just wanted to celebrate the preservation of these titles: “I can’t wait to dive back into GameCube games on my Switch 2,” said Eddie Towers, capturing the spirit of the moment.

Of course, no Nintendo announcement is ever complete without a flood of demands attached to it. Titles like Pokémon Colosseum, Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, and Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, and even others less known like Gotcha Force, are the next ask. And Big Ty went all in on the sentiment with, “PUT GOTCHA FORCE ON NSO AND MY LIFE IS YOURS,” which frankly? Mood.

Adding fuel to the fire, is the perennial demand for a new F-ZERO. “I have an idea—make a new F-ZERO!!!” tweeted Chadiroth, because let’s be real, it’s been way too long since Captain Falcon got some love.

Not everyone, however, was big on the announcement. Some took the offer to task for its price, with one commenter by the name of Truth117 calling it simply “bullshit.” Others wondered why something like a HD remaster for Wind Waker and Twilight Princess wouldn’t get physical releases. And another thing: shall we not go down the route of emulation-quality debate again? Some are staunchly old-school, others are just in it for the convenience.

Good thing. More GameCube numbers are on their way as Nintendo is definitely not through with this yet. And judging by the replies, the players seem to have *a lot* to say. Luigi’s Mansion is already in, and it’s a very promising sign that third party stuff is also in the mix with SOULCALIBUR II.

One way or the other, whether it be reminiscing or discovering some very worthy classics, one thing is for sure right now: massive GameCube nostalgia. Excuse me while I go reclaim my high score on F-ZERO GX.
