This weekend, Xbox Live Gold members will be able to play NBA 2K20, Sonic Mania, and Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz for free, as Microsoft is making the aforementioned games free for subscribers from Friday, February 14 to Sunday, February 16.
NBA 2K20 launched for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch last fall, and it did massive business in the United States, as it was the top-selling game in the US for 2019, outselling the previous top-selling US game: Mortal Kombat 11.
Right now, NBA 2K20 is heavily discounted, with the standard edition of the game being 67% off, as it’s available to be purchased for just under $20. Below is Microsoft’s description of the game, which as previously mentioned, will be free to play this weekend.
“Play as Team LeBron or Team Giannis, check out All-Star and premium apparel in the Neighborhood, or collect All-Star themed cards in MyTeam. With best in class graphics and gameplay, groundbreaking game modes, and unparalleled player control and customization, NBA 2K20 is the closest thing to actually playing in the league. Don’t miss the NBA’s biggest weekend of the year now in NBA 2K20!”
Sonic Mania, which released back in August of 2017, is a retro-themed side-scrolling title, similar to the franchise’s first three entries on the Sega Genesis. The game ended up being the best-reviewed Sonic title in recent memory, as it was almost universally praised after its release.
Spending Valentine’s Day with loved ones includes video games too.

While there hasn’t been a sequel to Sonic Mania since it was released, the game did get an expansion called Sonic Mania Plus, which offered new ways to explore the game’s acts. It also included a few visual changes, four-player split-screen, and two new characters named Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel.
For now, Sonic Mania is also heavily discounted, as it’s available for purchase at half its standard price, so purchasing the game will only set you back $10.
Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz is an HD remaster of the platforming title that launched for the Nintendo Wii back in 2006. Like the previous two titles, Super Monkey Ball is also available to be purchased at a discounted price, as it’s currently listed at 25% off its regular price.
Again, these games will only be free to play for Xbox Live Gold members, and they’ll only be free until Sunday, February 16 at 11:59 PM. Of course, all three games will remain at their discounted price after the free weekend ends.
