On Sunday, we learned the unfortunate news that NBA and Los Angeles Lakers legend Kobe Bryant, 41, and his teenage daughter, Gianna, were among several who were killed in a helicopter crash.
As many expected, the entire NBA community has paid tribute to Bryant, who was one of the greatest players in the history of the league. Also, on Monday, NBA 2K20 paid tribute to the late Lakers legend, and you can check out their tribute to the five-time champion below.

Over on NBA 2K’s subreddit, the game’s community has organized a memorial event for Kobe Bryant, which will take place in The Neighborhood on Saturday, February 1, at 4 PM Eastern, 1 PM Pacific.
“On Saturday February 1st 2020 at 4:00 PM ET all 2K, basketball, and Kobe fans, will go into park and put on our purple and gold kobe colours. We will have a moment of silence for the fallen legend and pay our respects in silence as a community. Together we will mourn the death of one of the greatest NBA players to ever step foot on the court, while simultaneously celebrating the Mamba Legacy.”
Kobe Bryant appeared on the cover of 2K’s annual NBA game twice, once for 2K10, and again for the Legend Edition of 2K17 following his retirement. Given that the former Los Angeles Lakers shooting guard was arguably one of the five most popular players in league history, 2K will probably look at putting him on the cover once again for NBA 2K21.
Shortly before the news broke of Bryant’s tragic death, NBA 2K20 got its tenth patch since being released last fall, which includes the following updates and fixes.
- The following players have gotten hairstyle updates to reflect their current look: D’Angelo Russell, Austin Rivers, Nerlens Noel, Robert Covington, Jrue Holiday, Kelly Oubre Jr., Myles Turner, Marquese Chriss, Devonte Graham, Jordan Poole, Cody Martin, Terance Mann, Rondae Hollis-Jefferson.
- The duo overlay for MyTeam will now properly show badge upgrades.
- Button latency has been reduced when playing Pro-Am games, resulting in a more familiar user experience.
- Addressed a concern where players could walk onto the court during specific games in the Neighborhood.
- Behind the back spamming has been removed.
In addition to providing the latest patch, 2K has heavily discounted the mobile version of 2K20, which features a 3v3 streetball mode, MyCareer story mode, online multiplayer, and more. The mobile version also features an NBA Stories mode, where players can take control of historic teams to replay some of the most legendary moments in league history.
