Capcom has struck again: they have put the hammer down against cheaters in Monster Hunter yet again in the game’s latest timed event, and everyone is for it. Developers have stated that they will investigate any suspicious clear time in the “Doshaguma of the Hollow” challenge quest all the way, and the injured parties will be banned, and will have their rewards revoked, and may get the embarrassment of having it broadcast to the public (maybe not that last one).

It was made clear that in a tweet from the official Monster Hunter account, there is a window of review for about one to two weeks in which they purge the leaderboards of any suspicious clears. Did you cheesed your way up using some shady third-party tool? Congratulations, your account is going to get slapped with restrictions, clear time wiped, and bye-bye sweet event rewards.

It’s not just blocked leaderboards-Capcom already swung the banhammer on those cheaters who got caught, while the players report suspicious behavior via in-game tools.

They even added a link to their policies on unauthorized data modification, just in case anyone missed the despised memo that cheating is bad.

The timing is interesting too-just as the event rolls up today, all those leaderboard warriors are sweating in their palms over their rankings within this news.

Any estimated guesses on how many suspected cheaters there are? Well, you know there would be some drama when final rankings come, courtesy of Monster Hunter.

What is remarkable is just how pro-active Capcom has been. They aren’t merely putting under suspicion anyone whose times appear too clear but are doing their own deep dives, which suggests that they’ve got some detection tools hidden behind the scenes.

And then, of course, the open warning about restrictions on accounts-that’s a flex. Most devs will shadow ban and move on. The Monster Hunter crowd wants you to know you’re cooked.

Now the community hasn’t reacted; they’re not yet in surprise salty replies and denial posts. May be that everybody is grinding the legit clears, or may be the cheaters are playing smart and keeping quiet. Either way, it’s a huge W for the honest players.

So for anyone still considering some modding trickery down to a fake world record, please reconsider… Capcom has its lookout on the situation and doesn’t play nice regarding a fair hunt. For now, it is back to old-fashioned monster-grinding: sweat, skill, and probably too many failures.
