Xbox made a lot of heads explode today when it hinted that its brand mascot and Halo hero Master Chief would be ready to debut anytime as a new character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. All Nintendo has to do is extend the invitation. Master Chief has long been on the Smash Bros. wish list for gamers all over the world. He's one of those names that always seems to pop up every time rumors start to fly regarding a new Smash Bros. fighter. Master Chief would be a huge get for the world's number one fighting game franchise. He's an iconic and instantly recognizable figure in the gaming world. The door for collaboration between Xbox and Nintendo is clearly open, as Nintendo just announced that Steve and Alex from the Xbox owned Minecraft will be the newest Smash Bros. roster members. That's not the only sign of cooperation between the two rival game companies over the years. Banjo-Kazooie was released as a DLC fighter for Super Smash Bros. in the past, and the Microsoft exclusive Ori franchise also came to the Nintendo Switch. So that begs the question, could we actually one day see Master Chief in Super Smash Bros? This all came about after a Twitter fan stated (in French) that they wanted to see Master Chief arrive in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. While some may balk at the idea of the super serious tough as nails Master Chief slugging it out with the Ice Climbers and Jigglypuff, it should be noted that other serious gaming icons have made the leap. Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII was one such character, along with Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid. These are both characters who come from a more serious and mature game, but they made the jump to Smash Bros. easily. It's going to be a long time (relatively speaking) before we get any news regarding a new Smash Bros. fighter. Steve and Alex from Minecraft were just announced last week, and Nintendo's Mr. Sakurai seemingly like to stretch out these announcements.
