Marvel Rival Update for June 5 at 9:00 UTC brings all new content, event mode, and gameplay changes with no server downtimes. The client is updated, and that’s that; one is back into the game. Meanwhile, with the patch hyped up by the devs, the players keep crowding the thread with requests for fixes, balance changes, and outright reworks.
We know from an official Marvel Rivals tweet a bit of the story: some new content, no downtime, and a link to the full patch notes. The story ends there; the drama begins. Player thoughts pour out, with everything being blamed: from matchmaking issues to weak characters.
Then, @dvd_es2 shot from the hip calling the patch, “inane,” demanding drastic rebalances. There’s also @FirePhoenixIsMe begging for throwers to be banned from ranked, and @GenoSmithMvp420 perfectly describing ranked as “win a game every 3 losses with 4 bad teammates every game.”
Character balancing brings among other things another hot topic. There are divisions amongst Psylocke mains: some feel she needs to be buffed (extra dash? invisibility?), while others like @JPXFRTnameson jokingly suggest nerfs: “Just break her knees and tie one arm behind her back.” Thor’s rework is also getting roasted, with @BlackSperg simply asking, “Is Thor still ass or are you fixing him?”
Then, matchmaking is Hell. @ShadowwsWrld gladly uninstalled after 50 % ranked mahmoudage from 0 to 10, while @toxinGee refuses to return until cross-save is implemented. Server crashes, CPU crashes remain an issue, and now we have @Nyx_HZX pointing out that packet loss hasn’t been fixed either.
And that’s the end of the line! Loki mains celebrate the buff (shout out to @KarmaKngJirachi), while a few others, like @GoodOnAccidentX, could still vibe with their mains through the meta shifts.
The noteworthy question is what happens next? The June 5 patch brings something—whether it will be enough to silence the backlash remains to be seen. The players want more than just new content. They want their game fixed. They want balance. They want a ranked system where the experience is not a punishment.
Marvelously, Rivals could have been a killer competitive game; right now, however, the community’s patience is wearing thin. One can only hope the devs are hearing now because this makes anyone want to click on the uninstall button.
In the meantime, a must is reading the full patch notes once they drop; maybe your main will get what they really deserve or be nerfed into oblivion. Either way, it will definitely be a bumpy ride.
