Marvel just made our nostalgia glands erupt in full force through an animated short in which Daredevil teams up with Spider-Man, and now the world wants the full series in this style. Posted on Twitter by the official Marvel account under the hashtag #TodayInMarvelHistory, the clip shows these two icons of different realms trading punches for an iconic friendship, and really, that clip felt way too short.
The animation, created by @WildCometMedia, looks crisp and dynamic—exactly what these fans have been asking for—but at just 8 seconds long, it’s more of a tease than a feast. And the world we find in the comments? A ride of hype, frustration, and downright demands.
“You know you can make these longer than 8 seconds,” cried Tim O’Connor into the void, and he is right. Therein lies the irony: It is so good that Marvel is just slapping us with the aroma of greatness. Then another voice down in the comments, GetGetrighttt, hilariously pointed out an inconsistency about the power levels: “It’s crazy how that man just knocked back Spider-Man who can lift 5 tons but Daredevil whooped him so easily.” Classic comic logic, right?
But the real takeaway? Players want MORE. A LOT more. “Give us a full-series, cowards,” tweeted marc☁️, almost summing up the Twitter world following. So, really, Marvel, what are you waiting for? That animation is beaut; Spidey and DD have great chemistry, and the fans want more. One of these fans even threw shade at Marvel Studios’ animated series, querying: “WTF is stopping y’all from making What If? look like this instead of that garbage-ass animation?” Ouch.
A few replies escalate the demand to cancel the soon-to-premiere Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man animated show so that style could replace it: “Cancel your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man and make an animation in that style,” urged user Sheldon. Harsh? Maybe. But you gotta admit that passion is there.
Then there is a rather oddly specific hatred toward Miss Minutes, the Loki TVA’s cartoon clock mascot, who apparently shows up in the shorts. “Please take Miss Minutes out of these, I’m trying to see my goats,” begged one fan. Another: “I am asking once again for Marvel to take Miss Minutes out of these so we can all enjoy really awesome animated shorts.” What did Miss Minutes ever do to you?
The love for Daredevil and Spider-Man’s dynamic is real, though. “Daredevil and Spidey always been best friends,” tweeted CYCLOPS IS RIGHT (yes, that really is the name). “I’m just finally glad to see DD getting the love he deserves after all these years.” They are not wrong—Daredevil has, sadly, been underused in Marvel’s animated treatments so it’s a real joy to see him and Spidey shine together.
So what’s the actual deal, Marvel? You’ve got the talent, the fan demand, and the IP. Why not greenlight a full series in this style? Until then, we’ll just have to keep rewatching this 8-second clip on loop and dreaming of what could be. And maybe, just maybe, someone at Disney or Sony is reading these tweets and taking notes. A guy can hope, right?
Meanwhile, if you haven’t seen the short, go check it out. It’s a tiny burst of superhero perfection—and proof that Marvel’s animation team is sitting on a goldmine. Now if only they’d actually dig it up.
