Nintendo lately revealed a huge scoop for Mario Kart players: in the Mario Kart World, photo shoots can be done anytime during Free Roam, and can be abscribed any way one pleases, including with a frame or with vertical dimensions. This news was like a trending gush in cyberspace; some went crazy about it, and some-well, let’s just say, they had other plans. (I’ll turn to them later.)

Nintendo America seizes social media by storm when it shares an in-game screenshot that highlights a new feature, and one would expect all kinds of chaotic, Hilarious, and outright bizarre responses to pour in: Classic Nintendo fan responses, some responded in support of Annex Mode: “Got that,” said one crazy guy while another were demanding price drops ASAP (because, really, they did).

Though following the trail of the delighted ones were less joyful; they used the opportunity to air various grumbles. “Can we get a battle mode that plays like City Trial?” was one of them, referring to that much-loved mode on Kirby Air Ride. Suddenly, one respondent declared: “You can collect blue coins and take pictures in a vast open world… wait that’s it?” It was, however, not an easy crowd.

Price complaints came inexorably. Many simply ordered Nintendo to “drop the price,” hence claiming they weren’t going to buy the next Switch simply for this game. One of the responses was, “What’s actually embarrassing is how people still complain about the price even though it would be obvious that things would get more costly if higher quality comes in.” There was drama everywhere.

Of course, it got weird, almost immediately. Another user interjected, “My Steam Deck arrives tomorrow!” Cool story, bro. Another retorted with that weird one, “Where are the Miis?” because apparently, not having Miis included in Mario Kart is a huge concern. Then there was the one who said, “Why there gotta sparking be a Mario Kart picture XD.” No explanation. Just vibes.

Good times lie ahead, for sure, with the photo mode. Players can stop time from the middle of a race (or free roam) and snap pics with different frames and angles to immortalize downright chaotic Mario Kart moments, whether they’re snappy drifts, strategically placed banana peels, or just some shots of Yoshi being cute. Now, there are a few ways to actually capture race memories.

This, however, is surely going to be used to craft a bunch of hard-hittingly-cursed screenshots. One person is out there right now framing a pic of Bowser mid-spinout with the caption, “Me after Taco Bell.” The meme-galore is endless.

Of course, Nintendo has yet to drop the start-off date, but we can almost safely assume that the last minute has already begun. I guess only time will tell whether it’s enough to justify the asking price for some. For most of us who just want to race (and click some pics in between), this is a welcome update.

Grab your kart, strike a pose, and say cheese, because the world of Mario Kart just got way more Instagram-worthy. If only there were a City Trial battle mode…
