Apparently, Insomniac Games has dropped a bomb on this industry causing PlayStation fans to practically lose their minds. The studio dropped a casual announcement that they’re working on Resistance: Fall of Man, a PS3-era shooting game that became a generational term for chaos with aliens. The Internet has been going wild—begging for remasters, reboots, anything to bring it back.
So, what really went down there? Insomniac had dropped a pic of their team in the studio with the caption, “revisiting a PlayStation 3 classic.” They attached a link to their Twitch stream but held back on giving any information, no announcements. Just vibes. But the gamers are counting down to officially hear something. The replies are a fairly interesting mix of nostalgia, demands, and straightforward desperation.
Then there are the remasterers: players such as Dave Dorey (@Dav3_O_Mac) who say in unison, “Needs a remaster collection 👏👏,” with half the other users begging for a PS5 port and 60FPS, higher resolution. @ArthurKlucznik thinks the trilogy should get a full remake “because it’s gold,” and “was ahead of its time.”
Or they say: No more remasters. @Big_Ozwin disagreed: “Stop asking for remasters and remakes you plebs,” arguing that a reboot or continuation ought to appear first. Others, including @KazBzh, half-seriously suggested a Resistance crossover with Helldivers 2—because why not?
Then there’s the VR segment. @PatrykGalka07 mused: “Imagine all Trilogy on PSVR2 🥺,” which—okay—fighting Chimera in VR obviously sounds as terrifying as it does amazing.
Meanwhile, some are still hoping these long-forgotten games can be played in an actual way. @Pieryck_A pointed out that the Original Trilogy is gone from the PS Store, asking, “Where is Fall of Man?” It’s a fair question. If Insomniac are teasing it, can we at least get a re-release?
And let’s never forget those weird opening comments. @NostalGian777 tagged Fall of Man “Halo ripoff” (but a good one?), at least according to him, way more fun than the sequels he called “COD ripoffs.” Those are harsh, but opinions are grenades-everybody’s got one.
Now, the real question: Is this just a cool nostalgia trip, or are they actually working on something bigger? They’ve got Spider-Man 2 DLC and Wolverine in the cooker, but Resistance is much closer to the hearts of PlayStation diehards. So maybe they’ll test the waters with this. Or, maybe this means nothing. Either way, the gamers are ready to throw their hard-earned cash at the screen.
So, what we currently have is just a tease. But if the reaction means anything, Resistance still has enough fans willing to go to war for its return. Whether that means remasters, reboots, or just a straight port is an easy question for Insomniac to answer at this point. If they need a sign, the internet is holding up one big flashy “YES.”
Ahem… Insomniac, you guys listening? The people have spoken. Time to bring back the Chimera war. Or at least just let us replay it without having to dig out the PS3 to do it.
