Crytek has released the popular online bounty hunting computer game Hunt: Showdown on Xbox One. There is a planned PlayStation 4 release in November, but for now, the game stays on Xbox and PC. To celebrate the launch, they are also releasing a brand-new DLC pack called Legends of the Bayou.
The game is set in the 1890s and follows the story of hunters who take down monsters that have overrun the world. It is a first-person shooter mixed with survival elements and a horror theme. Crytek has stayed active listening to the community and working to make this a long-lasting game.
The new DLC is ser in the swamps of Louisiana in 1895. It is a tense experience that you can play with teams of two, three, or even alone. You must first track down clues that lead you to the target monster. Then the job is simple, take them out and any competition in your way.
The game is a match-based mix of PVP and PVE elements that creates a strong experience that puts your life, character, and gear on the line. In each Bounty Hunt match, you and up to 12 players track the monster. Depending on the mode, you can have a mix of anything between solo and teams. Once you defeat one of the monsters, you will receive a bounty and become the target for everyone else in the game.
The game does have a quick play mode that offers shorter matches with only ten players. You race to scavenge gear and find and close four rifts. The first hunter to close the final rift absorbs its energy and must survive until the final countdown of the mission.
The game does have a permanent death feature but do not fear. Any progress made by your hunter will continue on to its bloodline and apply to any other Hunters you have. If you do make it off the map alive, you will be able to use the money and experience to kit out new hunters in the game.
If you die, you lose everything but your experience. This creates a unique amount of tension within the game, which fascinates fans. Games like this can really get the blood flowing as you have a chance of losing everything you have in every match.
The game is available on Xbox and Steam for $39.99. There will be a PlayStation 4 release in November, but for now, it is restricted to these two systems.
