Geoff Keighley – The man behind Summer Game Fest and The Game Awards-gave the game world a cryptic tweet. The post consisted of the phrase “There’s a good chance” with a link, and speculations started swirling endlessly-because when Geoff just hinted about something, then it was big gaming news about to come down the horizon.
Attached now is an image that supposedly shows a clip editing timeline of either a trailer or some event promo. So for all you Geoff fans: it can be anything from a reveal of a new game to a first look at Summer Game Fest this year. Replying to the image are half hype, half meme posts, and full pleas for Kingdom Hearts news because-come on now-when is it not Kingdom Hearts?
As soon as it got out, a handful of gamers quickly identified the editing software, and the age-old debate of Adobe Premiere Pro versus Final Cut raged on. Lost Music Co. gave him a GOAT title for the hands-on approach. MAKBOT then sarcastically snuck in, hoping, that’d better not be a stereo voice track, that would be the worst thing ever for a hype trailer.
Then we get the chaotic vibes of “Let him cook now, oi oi oi” from Tommie, Y gamer begging for a Playdead Studios trailer, and of course, desperate Kadeem, “Please tell me there’s Kingdom Hearts in there so I can sleep for the first time in years.” Mood.
Still, the one burning question remains: WHEN does whatever Geoff is teasing go down? Rynothethird speculates it could follow last year’s pattern-a week before the event-while others are just demanding more zoomed-in screenshots to decode those thumbnails. Classic gamer detective work.
Geoff was known for presenting energy, so whatever this is-The Game Awards, Summer Game Fest, or something new-all we know is gamers are ready. And if history has taught us anything, it’s going to be big.
Now, fear not. We wait. Refresh Twitter. Wait again.
