Generation V has been introduced into Pokemon Go, and with it, Niantic has been adding in more Legendary and Mythical Pokemon. After a cryptic tweet appeared on the Pokemon GO, fans rushed to guess what Mythical Pokemon would be joining the game.

Genesect was announced, and with it, a new Special Research story event has been added. The event is titled “A Drive to Investigate,” and it will require a special ticket to take part in. This is one of many changes being made to the way that events work in Pokemon GO. It is still too early to tell if this will be a lasting change or something that will go away after a one time attempt.

The mysterious event weekend that was announced is now confirmed to be a Genesect themed weekend. All trainers are invited to participate, but as said prior, it will require a special ticket to take part in.

The event is planned to run from March 20 at 8:00 A.M. to MArch 23 at 10:00 P.M. local time. It will offer a ton of features, including higher spawns of certain Bug- and Steel-type Pokemon. Nincada will have an increased spawn as well as some interesting appearances in Raids. All trainers will receive a 2x Catch and Hatch Stardust during the weekend event.

During those three days, all trainers that have a ticket will gain a Special Research story event. Participation will give trainers a new opportunity to access tons of rewards. Research objective encounters of Bug- and Steel-type Pokemon along with Durant, who is normally exclusive to the eastern hemisphere.

Genesect themed avatar items have been added along with special items such as Battle Passes, Incubators, and Rare Candies. All of these can be found through the Special Research line. Trainers will also gain their first encounter with Genesect through this, which is also the Pokemon’s first appearance in the game.

The ticket needed to participate will cost $7.99 in the shop. There is no option to use PokeCoins for this item. If you do not want to pay have no fear, the Special Research is only offering an early access encounter to Genesect. This means that Genesect will be put into the game free of charge eventually.

Tickets are available until March 26 at 8:00 P.M. local time. Niantic has not given a date for when the tickets will go live, so stay tuned to their Twitter and main website.
