The whirlwind of new cosmetics kicks in this Wednesday, with leaked skins carrying somewhat of an unusual vibe. One simple tweet from the chief Fortnite leaker ShiinaBR shook the community’s entire core: “NEW SKINS DROPPING ON WEDNESDAY π₯.” And now, the comments section is full of fireworks; love, hate, and utter chaos enter the mix.
Skins, to begin with. The tweet bore no images of the skins, but the reply section provided some clues. One of the skins was deemed to be “an actual banger” by KaiserMH_; most were rooting for the design on the left. J-Mystic simply wrote, “I need the one on the left!!” and Morphus_17 described it as instant love. But some went against the tide and called these “ugly ass skins” (thanks, hissclique), while others straight-out asked Epic Games to fire their designers. Ouch.
Travis Scott comparisons start here. Some players see one of the new skins as a cheap rip-off of the legendary Astroworld rapper’s Fortnite collab. “Temu Travis Scott π₯π₯,” only only OnlyKirby_ joked, and Luisperez4629 chimed in with the well-known “We have Travis Scott at home aha” meme. Some others are meanwhile begging desperately for the return of the actual Travis Scott Skin, implying that some gamers just can’t let it go.
But the real drama? Street Fighter fans are not happy. Replies like Binyyb’s “Stop adding these meaningless skins, I want Street Fighter” show players are still (im)patiently waiting for Ryu and Chun-Li to resurface. Cyber2077shots had to scream it out in all caps: “STREETFIGHTER RETURN WHEN?? π.” The struggle is real.
Like any other Fortnite skin reveal, a good majority of haters followed the trail. EinsteinMadness showed no restraint with “Wtf is this shit.” Drama button was hit by kornfetti: “I need them to scrap this immediately.” Meanwhile, TsmCold is waiting in vain for the Squid Game skins. Strategies? Questionable.
Nonetheless, whether people adored or hated these skins, one thing is sure: Forever will be the debate over Fortnite skin drops. At its best, or at its worst, this Wednesday marks said update shaking the locker meta. And if nothing else, at least we know Epic isnβt afraid to take risks, one “Temu Travis Scott” among them.
Will you be buying new skins or holding off for the full Street Fighter return? There is never a dead moment in the Fortnite lobby, and neither is the drama. See you on the island, boys. Possibly neon green if Jaffxe gets their way.
