Being the new and final Fortnite Item Shop Reset, it began with its talked-about number; some jolly, some sorrowful, while few other subscribers are still waiting for the Street Fighter skins. Epic Games gave a good mix of old classic and new additions, but that selection did not please some.
First is the return of the T5G Locker Bundle after an incredibly long year and eight months of waiting; hold up for a second: Was it two years of waiting? The bundle contained Midsummer Midas and some other cosmetic items at a price of 2400 V-Bucks; to the creators, that’s big, to the public, that’s nothing. Cheer Up Emote came back after 600 days for 800 V-Bucks. Alright, all great with nostalgia, but the general public expected something new.
There is a new Hoops & Dreams tab with basketball-themed goodies, like the Baller skin. Sports people might like it, but the reaction is in between. One player would describe the place as a “fuckass shop,” while the other sighed, saying, “Terrible like the usual.”
Then the big drama: Where. Is. Street Fighter? Gamers have been begging for Ryu, Chun-Li, and the gang to return, and this one reset is just another wrench in the wrench. “No street fighter bruh,” was the disappointed comment of a fan on Twitter. Then another: “They always say one thing and do the opposite.” The loud frustration speaks for itself after all the teasing from Epic on the subject for what’s seemed like an eternity.
Not everybody, of course, was mad: A few hype man for Midas and other rare skins; one being “AWESOME SHOP RESET.” Meanwhile, others just saw their V-Bucks evaporate: “My V-Bucks didn’t survive this reset,” another joked.
The Battle Ready tab got its update as well and resulted in the coldest of receptions. One said “repetitive,” while the other just shrugged. Not to mention the conspiracy theories, like one player guessing that Epic is trolling everybody with the holdback of the good stuff. “They never cared about their players,” came another tweet.
So there you have it, the store reset really got the town talking. Whether you are super excited or waiting by the gates to riot, there has to be one thing in common: The Item Shop sure knows how to stir up a fuss. Maybe next time, Street Fighter fans’ wish shall be fulfilled. Or hell, maybe Epic will keep us all dangling on a string. V-Bucks are ready, just in case, anyway.
Speaking of which, anyone interested in seeing the entire shop can enter “Shiina” as the code, but don’t blame us if your wallet screams.
