The news of the official start of Season 3 happening on June 7 was a spicy one for Fortnite fans. But here comes a strange paradox: the live event is now supposed to be happening on the very same day! What? How does that even work?

The bombshell was dropped by the extraordinary Fortnite leaker HYPEX, and confusion has only increased among the other players. Is the event going to be right before the season launch? Or was this all actually some sort of big troll, and they’re really going to do it on the 6th? Real talk. The DMs are filled with theories and jokes, amidst pure frustration.

A few players, such as Rezztro, definitely think it would be “insane” if the season launches right after the event. Simodrum chimed in, saying there can’t be any downtime, only slight downtime maybe, with the event being moved. Then, sorry for you AridCheetah, who begs for the event to be moved to the 6th due to (spoiler alert) graduation on the 7th. Tough luck, dude.

The pandemonium found in the replies is worthy of special mention. Some have labeled it as “Season 2.5” (thanks, CamRacerX), while others have gone ahead and roasted the skins until they drop. Chromium007 straight up said they “look like ass,” and just2red called the skins “terrible.” Ouch! On the other hand, championshaun10 is hoping and praying that Epic hasn’t messed with the skins too much beyond the concept art. Struggle central.

But some have gotten excited. JettmetaX shouted, “Let’s goo I can’t wait,” while El_Platanito_PR dared to claim the new season “looks better” than Star Wars. Savage.

The burning question is, what next? Would Epic start the season right after this event? Or is there going to be a surprise and mini downtime? Or maybe all of it is one big miscommunication? One thing is for sure in Fortnite: You’re never really certain till it actually happens.

June 7 will be one crazy day for Fortnite fans, and those who’d been hyped, confused, or just in for the drama should all gear up for this. The season launch is definitely not going to be a dull one.

Then again, for those who would love to continue calling it “Season 3” regardless (shoutouts to d4ng3rv3st), please, keep walking your path while the rest of us refresh Twitter in pure anticipation.
