Bend Studio has just released a hotfix update for the PC and PS5 remasters, an event that is being celebrated by some while others are shedding tears. The patch landed with panache, enhancing PSSR, making a few adjustments to Balanced mode, perfecting Adaptive Triggers, and many other fixes. But the reaction? Split. Really split.
The PC update is out now, and the PS5 one should land soon. The studio shared links for the full patch notes, but let’s face it: most people went straight for the comments section. And any kind of brace-your-self warning is an understatement. Some are begging for achievements on the Epic Games Store, some want a physical release (because, apparently, a disc version is still possible), and one more guy just craves a sequel. The conventional ones.
Here come the juicy bits: owners of the PS5 reset Balanced mode from just shy of its 60fps to mostly 45-50fps; one person outright called it a “nerf,” while the other says it is even choppier than before. Ouch! On the bright side, reports of flickering occurring every eight seconds are being gathered, which certainly doesn’t sound too great.
Grumbling about the vibration not working (RIP immersion) and PSSR causing weird visual glitches is being heard all over PC. One person even claims the game causes them motion sickness, which I feel might actually be intentional zombie-apocalypse vibes.
But not done yet: more include NPCs disappearing on Iron Mike’s camp, weird throttle resistance acting like gun triggers (??), and some weird memory leak that costs you performance the longer you play. Fun.
On the bright side, it’s not all bad. Some say the fixes worked, with one stating that the VRR stutter is far less now; then there are those adaptive trigger fixes that promise to make someone’s day smooth.
Now, the question remains: when in the blue hell will Days Gone 2 come out? Apparently, one fanatic is willing to take the streets in protest should that ever fail to occur. Bend Studio, so much needs to be done—fix the bugs, maybe un-nerf Balanced mode, and for the love of zombies, give them what they want. Or anything that works for haptic feedback is a good start.
So, watch those updates and jump back into Days Gone; then fingers crossed that this next one won’t break anything else. Because, in a post-apocalyptic biker sim world, nothing ever comes easy.
