Fortnite players were up in arms about the skins, set to be purchasable in the Item Shop this very day. SPOILER ALERT: They went unsold. So instead, Epic Games decided to bestow upon us the Psycho Bandit and the internet simply will NOT have it.

Okay, the dataminers and leakers (all hail HYPEX) suggested that the Spider-Verse skins were going to be coming back, and players were ready to chuck their V-Bucks in for Miles Morales, Spider-Gwen, and the rest of the crew. But Fortnite stood them up, and now, everybody is just sick of it.

@gblindstrikekid put it best: “gng I really wanted Hobie😭” (Same here, bro. Same here.). Some are openly boycotting: “Not giving them anymore money. The subversive and not so subversive gayness can go on somewhere.” Harsh? Maybe. But when you’re promised Spider-Man and get a Borderlands psycho instead, emotions run high.

Beyond this incident, players even started calling out Fortnite for its shop rotations in general. @Yuksel23709K wasted no time: “How about Witcher or something else the community wants? Why is the item shop empty for days? I’m tired. Fortnite got so many licenses but they still bring skins that nobody cares about.” Preach.

While some are still hoping: “Will they be in tomorrow’s shop?” asked @Mykel61088, just as others demanded answers: “So when is it gonna come? :(“. No word yet from Epic, so the community sits in limbo, classic.

Shop chaos is not even a new thing. Players have been begging for the return of the Resident Evil skins, The Witcher collab, and even Travis Scott. And what do we have? Psycho Bandit. Which is great for the Borderlands crowd, but where’s the webswinging?

Responses were all over. Some meme about it (@Soulbound_TV: “Fortnite really hit us with the ol’ psych šŸ•·ļø”), others just seem to have given up (@Timelessmonixo: “can’t be surprised by Fortnite’s mistakes atp”). @NodleCup went on to… um… offer foot licks for a Jujutsu Kaisen collab. No judgments here.

So, what happens next? Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe the Spider-Verse skins come tomorrow. Maybe that’s saved for something bigger. Just maybe, they love watching us suffer. And so, Fortnite players are left refreshing that shop for a miracle.

And for all of you lucky enough who got Spider-Verse skins? Flex those down! Rub it in! The rest of us will just be here, crying into our V-Bucks.

TL;DR- Fortnite hangs the Spider-Verse skins out for a tease and withdraws them at the last second; hence, the internet is furious, meme-ing, and bargaining. Stay tuned; it ain’t over yet.
