Oh, and the dear Fortnite players, get ready with an entirely fresh dose of mayhem as Epic Games has pretty much issued an upgrade for Ballistic that can actually give some heat to anything. June 18 will witness the launch of a fresh map accompanied by new weapons, gadgets, and a warm-up lobby, according to the official Fortnite twitter account. The hype is very real, but there is a mixed response to it within the community.
First off, what really is new? The update promises a new map, which is really exciting to say the least, but there are already contrasting sentiments from some players. Some say Epic should be focusing on existing contents rather than churning out more contents. One player, @discovenus_, quitely labeled the mode “dead” should early access be given this way. Oof. Some others, like @TheAgentShadow and @cyclotesfaye, are actually begging for the polygons of the older shell maps instead of the new ones. Come on, Epic; throw some blessings on the OGs.
Thereafter, weapons and gadgets. No details stated so far, however, if we are to expect what the past updates gave us, then some obscure new tools are going to take over to dominate the battlefields. Some players may not have sat well with this though; @wutadam139 has started asking if we are done with Chapter 5 weapons already while @Sebastian141635 is tired of seeing the same collabs being used in the shop over and over. We all hear you though; Invincible is cool, but how about something different?
The warm-up lobby is a lovely touch. Now, there is something to showcase skins and emotes while being mercilessly destroyed in-game. But those in truth are here for the drama. @iTzPedroHDi joked that “the 10 people that play this will enjoy it.” Meanwhile, @Jyphr6 straight-up asked, “Niggas still play this mode?” Since they are already thinking of drama, might as well… Deep shade.
There follow bugs and complaints as an accompanying dish post-Fortnite update. @IAmSerious_lee_ is calling hacks into lobbies to wallhack and invisibility glitch, while @Eduardude1 is talking about the rank-backbling glitched that’s been haunting losses. Then, @M1K3Editz just went off about Save the World and replay mode being broken since Chapter 1 Season 7. Man, Epic, maybe fix the foundation before adding another floor?
That said, with all the madness, there’s some love too. @MadcapGaming420 said the trailer gave them OG season vibes, while @gary42796489 is just thrilled about playing. Even @PLAYBallistic (what an on-point name) was like: “ok fortnite ok you are the best.” Simple yet fitting.
So, will this update serve to resurrect Ballistic or bury it further? June 18 might tell. But one thing that is for sure is that Fortnite goes with the flow of unpredictability, much like its player base. Now if you’ll excuse me, I gotta hit building practice before that new map comes and humiliates me all over again.
