In a recent livestream, former Samsung World Champion CuVee revealed that he and other Samsung members have yet to receive their share from the Samsung 2017 skin sales.

CuVee said that the players who went to other regions, namely mid laner Lee “Crown” Min-ho and support Jo “CoreJJ” Yong-in, received their share without issues. But the players remaining in Korea haven’t received a single penny to this day.

Riot began the practice of sharing World Championship skins sales income with teams in 2017. Hanwha Life Esports’ CuVee, Gen.G’s Rule, and retired player Ambition have yet to receive their share after their World Championship win back in 2017 under the Samsung organization.

One possible reason for this delay is that Samsung Galaxy disbanded in 2017, soon after winning the organization’s second League of Legends World Championship. Their LCK spot was soon acquired by a Chinese organization, KSV eSports, which renamed to Gen.G after one split. That organization is present in the LCK to this day.

During the 2017 Spring Season, Samsung went 14-4 in sets overall. As they are favorites to win, Samsung was swept by KT Rolster 3-0 in the semifinals, ending their Spring Season. In the Summer Split, Samsung went 13-5 in the Group Stages, securing them a playoff spot. Unfortunately, they were swept by SK Telecom T1, 3-0 in the quarterfinals. They later competed in their final bid to enter Worlds 2017 in the 2017 Korea Regional Finals where they swept the heavy favorites KT Rolster 3-0. earning them the third seed to Worlds again. The team was placed in Group C along with Royal Never Give Up, G2 Esports, and 1907 Fenerbahçe Esports where they finished 4-2 in groups, both losses from RNG and advanced in the quarterfinals,

There they shocked the world by sweeping heavy tournament favorites Longzhu Gaming 3-0, showing that nothing will stand in their way to get their revenge. In the semifinals, Samsung met a strong challenge from Team WE, which the Chinese team defeated them at the first game before Samsung retaliated by winning the next three matches, allowing them to advance in the finals, meeting their nemesis SK Telecom T1. Samsung surprisingly defeated SKT in the first two matches before the defending champions fought fiercely in Game 3, as if there was a possibility of a Game 4.

That didn’t happen. however, due to the mistakes of SKT’s botlane, the tide began to turn in Samsung’s favor and the deathblow to the SKT dynasty was done by AD carry Ruler who flashed R with his Varus to Faker, winning the organization its second Worlds title. Later however, Samsung announced that they would no longer sponsor anymore teams in professional play and the team was then obtained by the Chinese Company KSV, thus forming KSV eSports.
